The world hasn't gone mad, we're all just getting older!

BTW in relation to your avatar I saw Yes at the "Big Apple" above the old Regent cinema in Queens Road circa 1971, the time of the "Yes Album". At the time I was still at school and had a part time job at the Academy Cinema in West Street selling ice creams from a tray in the intervals - 33 years ago shit!!!!!!!!!!

Radio 2 music is the same as Radio 1 20 years ago. Come to think of it so are the dj's.

On another note I cannot listen to Radio 1 without screaming abuse at the radio and re-tuning, usually to radio 2....oh the shame of admitting that it's now my favourite radio station

Radio 2 has more listeners than every other national radio station put together. No shame there. They do play great music - and not much Duran Duran, Thompson Twins etc.

Wogan is good, Ken Bruce is OK. Jeremy Vine I like to listen to, but the nature of my job means I can't concentrate on radio talk AND my work. Steve Wright's show hasn't changed since 1983 - wanker. Stuart Maconie I am a big fna of. He really doesn't want to do interviews. He just wants to play decent music. Marvellous.

Jonanthan Ross on Saturdays in quality listening, although I do prefer his stand-in when he is not available - Mark Lamarr.

Radio 1 is for - I think the term nowadays is *ahem* - CHAVS.

I remember when Radio 2 was all Perry Como and Easy Listening. The trouble is that it isn't going to stay the same for ever and in 20 odd years time all the Chav music is going to be on Radio 2 and drive out the 'decent' music the same way as 'decent' music drove out the Cocktail Lounge crooners.

Melody Radio anybody?

I agree but l like the Steve Wright show that way. Why change something that is good.

Great to hear Johnny Walker back too after his cancer treatment. I hope it stays away now and he broadcasts for many a year to come.

Radio 2 rocks (love the Sound of the 60's before Jonathan Woss)

Sign of age isn't it ? When the stuff you got off on now gets played on Radio 2 !

Never mind Dave, you'll find that bus pass handy.

Come on Al, lamarr's a ****. No one from Swindon speaks with an accent like that (I'm from Oxford remember). Ross is far superior, funnier and is the best thing on radio by a mile. Also Mark Steele as lamarrs sidekick is like the annoying kid at school trying to be funny. He wrote a great book though about the left /SWP in the '80's which for anyone who stood outside the South African embassy eeating veggie burgers is required reading. Agree with you about maconie, he's excellent, shame Johnnie 'rack e'm up' Walker's back.

Stewart Maconie will get his own slot soon. He was an excellent stand in and I'm sure his talent won't be wasted.

On the odd occasion I got to listen to him in JW's absence(normally I'm at work), he always seemed to start with something that got my attention, and just carry on right through the program. He started with Blockbuster by the Sweet once, and didn't play a dud'n all program!!

I'm an unashamed Radio 2 convert - never thought I'd hear Terry Wogan playing Belle and Sebastian on the breakfast show, but I'm glad I did.

For those with DAB radios, Radio 6 is great for music as well. Although I'm no Craig Charles fan, he plays some of the finest funk music you could ever hear on his show. Sly Stone, George Clinton and the rest. It's almost enough to make me forgive him for all those lame "ring" jokes on Takeishi's Castle.

Agree with SoL, Radio 6 is very good if you can get it.

When I'm not near my DAB I do tend to tune in to Radio 2.

Wogan in the morning is often hilarious as he banters with Paulie, Boggy, Deadly & Fran.

Work means I don't really catch it during the day (good for me as I'm not really a Steve Wright fan).

Stuart Maconie did a great job standing in for Johnny Walker.

Ross is great on a Saturday, as is Dale Winton's show, Mayo with the Album chart, and Parky on Sunday.

I'd much rather listen to all of those than that fat twat Moyles, or that rough northern slapper who can't speak English. Even Mark & Lard have now become boring.

It proves you don;t have to be coffin dodging to like R2, I'm only 26.
