There must be more to this than I am reading but for the life of me the value and attraction of this ‘artwork’ totally baffles me.

If anyone is interested I’d be happy to knock up some copies at a fraction of the price, you can even have different fruits on there if that helps sweeten the deal?

This is also a bit bonkers.

"In this radical work of conceptual art, Michael Craig-Martin RA presents a glass of water on a glass shelf accompanied by a text declaring that he had transformed the object into a tree without changing its appearance."

I’m convinced all modern art is just pure bullshit.

“This is a half-eaten bag of Quavers on a plinth.”

“Actually it’s more complex than that. You see the packet represents the limited life span we all have on this earth, while the Quavers themselves are curved, showing the ups and downs of life and that everyone has a different shape to their life. The open end represents our will to look out into the universe, but we stay firmly within our familiar world of the bag.”

“Wow, that’s incredible. Take my £5m.”

I went round the Guggenheim in Bilbao a few years ago. I have to say, and trying to keep an open mind, there were that many squares of black paint or similar masquerading as art that I did half think of having a go myself, or finding a 5 year old to give it a go instead.

There were only 2 things in there I liked - one was a VW Beetle taken apart with all the pieces suspended in mid-air, and the other was a 3D room that was very clever and you didn't know what was real and what was an illusion (so much so that I stepped into the room to see it a bit more clearly and got swiftly told not to touch the exhibits, which was odd as there was nothing to touch anyway!). But as for the rest of it …… nice building though.

I was reading an article the other day about how a lot of money laundering goes on in the art world. That would make sense where this banana b*llshit is concerned.

The world's not gone bananas, good artists (of whatever genre) have always been bananas.

An observation by someone without an artistic bone in their body

My brother in law has just scored £4k from an on line auction for a Banksy print he purchased also on line about six years ago for £30

I have a shelf like that. Thankfully it didn’t cost £millions.

The original was eaten last year so it’s a fake too - outrageous

I had a collection of banana stickers at work years ago . . . No idea what happened to them . . . I recently found a website of someone elses collection which blew me out of the water. Far more interesting than bananas.

in my yoof I had a girlfriend who was studying fine art, I failed to engage really, as a technical drawing /illustration type person I always thought most of it was bollocks. A folly for rich people. . .who would only ever make anything from gullible rich people.

She dragged me round a gallery once and amongst other things I've long since forgotten was shown Rothko. . . . Decades later Zef jr came home from playgroup with something on the same level but with a lot more relevance. He was 4.

I need to reframe it
