31st May 1976. Anybody else there? I can remember carrying a box of beers to the ground.

The Who were amazing but the highlight for me me was The Sensational Alex Harvey band doing Faith Healer, Tomahawk Kid and their version of Delilah sung by 60,000+ in the pouring rain.

Who Put the boot In charlton FC stadium 1976

Brilliant!!!!!!!!

I was there! Did it piss down or what?! NEVER been so wet in my life. I was sitting on the old South Terrace where The Brighton masses would have been today.

Who remembers the nutcase who scaled a floodlight pylon to the top then dangled upside down from one of the girders? No idea what he was on? Had he fallen, he have probably killed a few on the ground as well as himself.

In those days, forging tickets was kids play with security checks non existent. They estimated over 80.000 in the Valley that day. The pitch plus that huge east terrace & other stands were a sea of mass humanity.

74 and 76.
Remember the idjit swinging like a monkey on the floodlights? I was just a few yards to the right of chimpy - and wondering WHEN, not if, he was going to fall off.

Bloody almost got crushed when everyone crowded for the gates afterwards. I lifted my feet off the ground and the wedge of a human current carried me through the bottleneck like a sardine!

Yes! I'd forgotten all about him! Oh my god.

Was there in 74...seemed to remember that Lou Reed could hardly stand up!
Hot day, and had to walk back into Victoria station after the game as all the additional trains/busses had gone by the time I got out of the ground.
Don't remember the threat of violence that Pete T commented on...just a great day out with the Who firing on all cylinders!
Memories!
