Moon & Entwistle are dead, Townshend is a paedophile and Daltrey is a fish farmer in Burwash!

Their last gig at the Brighton Centre didn't sell out, a mate of mine did the rigging for it, free
tickets for the gig could be got all over Brighton.

When was the last time they recorded anything of note? Simon Townshend has done a few free
gigs in the Evening Star, about his level! They're just a tribute band of their former selves.

I love The Ooh, but almost fell asleep during their Quadrophenia tour circa 1999(?) in the USA. It was outdoors and felt more like Spinal Tap playing Jazz-fusion to a half-empty amphitheatre in Los Angeles with a puppet show as the headlining act.

The highlight was definately the massive projections of Brighton Pier set against a backdrop of a North Virginia sunset. Controversial I know, but I just don't think it stands up as an album to tour with. Too many 'slow/introspective' tracks.

Simon Townshend?

It's irrelevant how long it is since they produced any good new music - that's not what Who fans want to see. What they produced in the 60s and 70s is enough.

Last time I saw them was in 1978, and Keith Moon had gone by then. And The Ox was pretty replaceable.

I'd go if they played in Brighton.

I think you're being very harsh here. I went to see them at the Southampton cricket ground about 6 years and obviously it was never going to be like seeing them in the 60s me, my father and brother had a great time and enjoyed it. As an aside they had Pino Palladino on bass and he's a good as you'll get from these shores. Why the need to compare to former glories? Take it for what it is.

Was there as well.

They've also got Zak Starkey on drums, who is as close as you can get to Keith Moon. Not quite as MAD, but able to drive the band on in the same way that Moon did.

They will never get anywhere near to what they were like back in the day but I can't f***ing wait to see them again.

PS a former colleague of mine plays golf with Simon Townsend; rock n roll eh?

Worthing
The last time I saw then was in about 80/81 at the Centre and I was out of my bonce and can't remember if they were any good or not.
The only recollection I have is the bank of lights coming on during "we won't get fooled again"

Not really a very good music review that is it ?

2 floor seats for me and my dad on the Saturday. Never had the chance to see them as am a young convert having gotten into The Who around 3 years ago. Excited doesn't cover it!!

Zak Starkey was Keith Moon's godson. One day, when Zak, as an aspiring young drummer, asked Keith how he played a 'Keith Moon-type fill' on a drumkit with only three toms, instead of teaching him, he gave him a Keith Moon drumkit. Apocryphal tale, I'm sure and would love it to be true.

Interesting to see people still believing the Daily Express, I see.
