37.2° at 1pm in mid-Derbyshire compared to 32.3 at same time yesterday - just been out to get some lunch and it's like stepping into an oven.

I've never seen 35 degrees in Brighton before, although I did see the Three Degrees.

Is there a current record for Sussex?

According to the Met Office, the current record for the hottest temperature in Sussex is 35.6C, recorded on July 19, 2006 in the village of Wiggonholt, near Pulborough.

I believe this has already been beaten as West Wittering had temperatures higher than that earlier.

Got into the jalopy for a quick lunch jaunt - 35.5c. Oof.

Down in Arundel though, there's a nice breeze which is making a big (positive) difference. Definitely warm enough though.

Think I'll stay indoors with the fan... my car is showing 40C outside, and is currently a toasty 62C (143.6F) inside!

Edit: Make that 66C (150.8F) which is impressive considering the decent sunscreen I've got...

There aren't many official Met Office stations showing on this interactive map.

Phone showing 36 here, so I'm going to stick it in the fridge for half an hour to see how accurate it is...

Really?? That sounds awful. Does it work? I would have thought naked feet all the way.

It helps me get off to sleep...helps cool the body temperature slightly, and I find it more acceptable than a wet flannel round the neck. I'm talking nighttime of course!!
