I've not minded the weather actually, it's not once got in the way of anything I've wanted to do. it stayed dry for my trip to the test match (rained both days either side) was scorching for every day of the Secret Garden Party and when I've had bbq's and that it's been fine.

I couldn't give a f*** if it rains in the week and generally the weather has behaved itself at the weekend.

You want constant sun in the summer then go live in Dubai or summat.

Its been pissing me off.
I like to get home from work, put the shorts on, and sit in the back garden with a beer and a book for an hour or two and watch the sunset over the Virgin Media building. I think I've done that about TWICE this year.

This summer has been SHIT

We go camping and usually pre-book 3 trips to Devon and Cornwall and then go away for weekends at short noticewhen the weather is decent.

This year:

Dorest booked trip - 1 half decent day, one dull day and 2 pissing down days
South Devon booked trip - 2 and a half beautiful days, 1 and a half monsoon days
Cornwall booked trip - cancelled because weather SHIT
North Devon booked trip - cancelled because weather SHIT
Weekends - NONE

In 2005 and 2006, we seemed to be away most weekends in the summer and even last summer we got a couple of decent trips away.

This year has been completely RUBBISH

As for relaxing in the garden after a hard day's graft with a bottle or two of Westons, forget it!

Since about the end of June it has been cack, not warm enough to ripen my tomatoes...which must mean it is bad.

If that report of better times to come hadn't been in the Daily Express it might have raised hopes. But I don't really care what it does in September since we'll almost certainly be spending some of it in hot foreign parts. By the end of September it's Bonfire season anyway and nobody needs a heatwave when there's bonfires to be built.

Ours neither - and the dreaded blight is back...

Has the blight affected the whole plant or just the fruit themselves?

I am growing alicante and a few haven't formed properly, the bit where the flower was is flat and has gone really dark...only a few so I took them off when I realised, not sure if that is blight though.

I'm growing Roma tomatos. Its started on the stems as brown "birth marks" and it just creeps all over really - we also had it last year. But I've just sprayed with some stuff to stop it, not ruining my whole crop again - tom's don't ripen at all and those few that do are mealy.

The lilac tree also has a form of it - curled and brown leaves which dry to a crisp and fall off...

Nasty nasty, usually caused by lots of wet wether in warm conditions...

That is what happened to mine last year, but only the ones I had outside, in the end I had to skip them. The problem I have this year, and had last year, is with the fruit on the tomatoes in the greenhouse. I was wondering if it was caused by either not enough or too much water...or something more sinister like a disease...either way I will be growing a different variety next year.

the summer has been gash, my chillies have been affected by the lack of hot sunny days, only a few are producing decent fruits the rest are falling behind.

Its also been strangely windy, too many days of 20mph+ winds and of course we've had alot of rain aswell....RUBBISH....I'm hoping for an Indian summer...so I might fly to India to get it!

I checked my chili plants yesterday, there are quite a few peppers but they are only about a centimetre long...not sure if there is enough time for them to reach their intended size before the weather gets too cold.

My big successes this year have once again been my courgettes, guess they like a lot of rain...also cucumbers, only one plant actually grew from the seeds I planted, but it has been a good one and I have been cutting them for about a month or so.

depends what chillies they are, I've got one plany with 15+ on it and they are all over 3" long but have not ripened in weeks..thats the worrying thing. Need the hot sun for that, also got some others that are turning yellow on other plants and they are 4"long and over an 1" in diameter...HUGE bastards :D
