The universe - big innit

I know that we've done this before, but the latest Hubble photgraph, focussing in on just one tiny patch of the sky for 500 hours in order to catch every bit of light, is just mesmerising.

Just looking at the size of the patch studied, compared to the size of the skyline, and then looking at what lies just within that small area of focus, is boggling.

Anyone still think that we are alone?

Never have thought we were alone... Just do not believe it's little green men... Just because there isn't life on our solar system (not even that can be confirmed) does not mean we are alone... The universe has billions of galaxies and our whole galaxy has billions of solar systems.

I like this you tube clip... Awesome...

Space is big. Really big. I mean, you may think it's a long way to the shops and back, but that's just peanuts to space

I don't think we're the only planet in the galaxy with life, or even some sort of civilisation, but I doubt we'll ever know anway

Exactly, even the next nearest star within our galaxy Alphi Centauri is over 4 light years away, and there isn't any firm evidence there are any planets orbiting that. In fact, there is no concrete evidence that other stars have orbiting planets - our own is the basis for assuming there is, but we simply don't have the technology to look for none luminous bodies in space outside our own solar system.

The universe is just unimaginably big, its unreal. I believe in life elsewhere, not aliens and spaceships, but more like ants and bugs etc.

The thing is, the bigger the universe is, the more likely life is to exist. However the bigger the universe the less likely we are to be able to find. It's kind of juxtaposition where the size of the universe makes it more likely they exist but at the same time less likely we'll find them.

There's plenty of pretty good evidence for planets orbiting stars other than our own. Over 1,000 have been identified so far and they're getting better at finding them all the time.

I never said there wasn't 'any' evidence, just not anything concrete. The existence of other exoplanets is based on tiny effects such as spectrum shifts and gravitational changes, and very little is known about possible mass and size.

I really can't be bothered to argue, you seem to know nothing.

Incorrect and incorrect.
