One who played with passion, belief, commitment and courage . . . and won. The other . . . ?

Well done Eddie, Dylan and the rest of the rugger buggers for making me proud to be English.

The other . . . .

Given some of the names that have been bandied about as Hodgson's replacement we could do a lot worse than get Eddie Jones to switch codes - and I'm not being totally facetious.

Were you saying the same thing last autumn, when we failed to get out of the group stages of our own world cup?

I was trying to recall earlier in fact if Sir Clive ever completed his football coaching badges

In a few months he took a squad of demoralised players who had performed poorly in a home world cup and made them into Grand Slam and away test series winners. He could certainly show the FA how to motivate.

Defininetly not. But the transformation from when Eddie Jones took over has been phenomenal. By bringing in specialist expert coaches, retaining a core of senior players and blooding youngsters has re-energised the whole squad. Jones's management style has brought out the best in each player, and the results, literally, speak for themselves.

Unfortunately, I cannot see England's football side doing the same. There has to be a massive reform from top to bottom of the whole England footballing structure. Something which probably will never happen while English football is totally ruled and dictated by the Premier League and it's clubs.
