The Sussex County Cricket Club New Thread

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
I thought we could have one thread for signings, potential signings, departures and so on.

To follow on from Monty signing a 3 year deal, Werners and Machan signing deals, it appears that Ollie Rayner has joined Middlesex on a three year deal.

BBC Sport - Middlesex sign Rayner from Sussex but Dalrymple leaves

Shame, but probably for the best and he will be wanting more games than we are able to give him.

It will be interesting to see what plans Robbo has for our batting lineup.

Really?

I would actually say are batting line up is fairly talented, Goodwin, Nash, Yardy, Joyce, Wright, Wells and Brown have all played international cricket at some level.

I would suggest the fact that all the coaches were bowlers might have some impact on our batting issues.

Indeed. With Prior to play occasionally, Machan coming through and Gatting as back-up I don't think we're desperate for anymore. But a good coach is a definite

Tosh - the batting is fine (if a bit prone to just under performing at times).

As always (and like every other side) we need a couple of quick bowlers who can take about 60 wickets each in the season.

and I'd like to see if we could spot an all rounder somewhere to do the job that RMJ left

Other than that I think we should be pretty settled in terms of personnell for next season - its just a matter of improving performance and consistency.

Would love to see a quality overseas all rounder in there, someone like Kallis? (would feel at home with his hair transplant as could swap notes with rana) Don't think we have ever replaced RMJ and its showed last year. Rana for the whole season would be OK, but would prefer an all rounder as our overseas. Think Wells will really break through next year, as will Brown but do not see a future for Hodd.

and i'd like to see Parnell coming through a bit more. He should be producing a bit better than he did last seaason - he can bat - he can bowl quick. Needs to start producing the impressive numbers of which he is capable of
