20 of us due to go there Saturday for wife's birthday as she likes Cypriot food but trip adviser shows reviews that it has changed owners and gone down hill. Anybody been recently or know abut it.

How do I edit title of thread to correct spelling mistake.

It's a shame if it has changed hands because it used to be excellent.

It's literally a few doors up from where I live...

The ownership has changed yes, but IIRC, the chef there (who had worked for the previous owner for years) bought it from them, so I don't think that there is all that much difference in terms of quality. Went for lunch there last month, still good IMO. Enjoy.

It was a family run business for many years, the old boy who used to run it used to still pop in there and keep an eye on things from the bar while drying the knives and forks. All the staff were very pleasant and well organised.

Just round the corner from me as well and it is like going back in time visiting there. They still do prawn cocktails the old way.
Excellant scoff though last time I went there. Not the best place for an intimate night out though.
Especially if BG is in there with his rabble...

On one memorable occasion there were two old girls sitting at the table opposite us who were, to put it mildly, pissed out of their heads.
Suddenly one of them puked up all over the table and her false teeth fell out into her coffee.

What's that 'Meze Meze' like in Lancing?

I went a couple of years ago...... It was ok, nothing more though. Imagine marrying a Greek bird and eating that crap every day huh Jim.

If that is the case the food should still be quite good. In fairness one of the bad reviews was from a couple who went there twice a week, they said, if that was the case Andrew would have fussed over them and perhaps the new owner if he is cooking doesn't, so they have the hump. We have decided to give it a try still and will report back on here next week .

What's that 'Meze Meze' like in Lancing?

It was one of my favourite restaurants and always busy, however I went about a month ago, on a Friday night, and there was only one other table taken. It was a miserable night out, but I think it is suffering in that people can't afford to eat out as much.

The staff are great, the welcome warm and the food is still good, although if I'm honest it didn't seem quite as good as I remembered.

I assume that is Meze Meze you are talking about not The Sunny

Seeing that he quoted this

in his post, I would assume that as well!

Went to Sunny as agreed and our party of 18 all loved it and thought that the food was still as good as it ever was. Which is understandable as I can confirm that the chef who has worked there for years has bought it. Rather surprised there was only 2 other tables of customers on a Saturday night. My party are all considering booking for 14th December when they have a traditional Greek evening.
