Amusingly, I've just found that you are not allowed to wear denim. In the gym. Obviously...

"Suitable gym clothing and clean trainers must be worn at all times. Denim is not permitted."

Again, those Ts&Cs look like an 8-year-old wrote them.
I’m very sure the person in charge of that ripped me off for some work a long time back 🙄

This place may or may not be any good, but their marketing and presentation is simply the worst I have ever seen. It genuinely looks like it's been written by an 8-year-old.

Example, this is the opening sentence in their launch email I just found in my Inbox:

"We are very sorry for the delay in posting this and the full website launching unfortunately our lead project controller suffered a family bereavement last week resulting in some planned works not being able to be completed in time for our 15th deadline for release, we hope you will bear with us and our team during this moment, we had planned on photoshoot images being ready and our 3D rendering of the full venue, both these items will be completed in the coming days and be released as fast as we can in the meantime we are releasing the membership information and 50% off discount code for locals only to book membership, we look forward to releasing before xmas some actual venue shots plus images of all spaces and our 3D images of the planned finished club."

Regardless of the atrocious message itself, the language and (lack of) punctuation is quite incredible.

I then click through to their website and there's a typo in the opening sentence...

"Transforming the historic former Beales site in the Montage Quarter, Worthing, an innovative member’s lifestyle club is set to open this coming winter."

...as it is, I believe, the Montague Quarter.

Beyond that the whole website is error-strewn.

It's just a really shoddy approach that seems to be at odds with the image they are trying to portray.

Anyone joined?!?
Who is the innovative member whose lifestyle this club is founded on?

STILL not open by the way, and the locals are getting restless from the looks of their Facebook page comments.

Some people had started paying monthly Direct Debits a long, long time ago.

An example of the communication, near entirely unreadable;

The last line (although technically the whole statement is the last line as there is no full stop anywhere to be seen) has got to make it all worthwhile for people paying the DD early.

I mean, who doesn’t enjoy touring a half-finished building site?

From the photos I've seen the ceilings and space still make it look too much like a Debenham's, rather than an exclusive members-only club.

Counting down the days for a genuine review from the Worthing High Society Stable, this will be box office no doubt

Members preview night towards the end of September apparently but still not open. Must be costing them a fortune. Hard to see this doing well but who knows.

I've been following along out of interest, but it's been like watching a slow-motion car crash.

Around 7-10 days ago, on Facebook, someone finally flipped and gave a very direct rebuke at the continued broken promises and the continued dreadful comms. A fair few people joined in and the complaint floodgates opened.

Shortly after they announced preview evenings and opening dates (again) which I think soothed a few frustrations, but the comms remain absollutely appalling, completley lacking in any professionalism. They do anything but paint a picture of a slick and efficient organisation marketing a product to their intended demographic.

I'll be interested to see how it plays out from here.

I’m similar. Subscribed to their emails which get increasing desperate and hard to believe to be honest.

They emailed to announce the members opening nights but today emailed to say that as some members have said they’re on holiday that they are now moving the date again.

Really?!!

Knowing one of the people involved with it I’m not surprised. Still not forgiven them for bumping me £120 wages about 15 years ago

I imagine this will be going for two types of people;

The “grown up lad” in his late 30’s / 40’s who thinks playing golf and drinking Courvoisier makes them the height of sophistication. They’ll be in membership arrears within 4 months of joining.

The small business owner who probably owns a couple of greasy spoon cafes and a second hand car dealership. Annoying tits with spare money and zero taste.
I have to agree with this, sadly.

I do like the idea/notion of a private members club, where you can mix with decent and intelligent people in a nice, smart environment and know that you're not going to have to mix with twunts.

However, it always seems that private members clubs almost always attract twunts.

Never the twain shall meet, it seems.

A good example of this.. Goodwood races

It’s a no go now, better watched on the telly or listened to on the wireless.

For a number of reasons, it’s difficult to see this place succeeding.

When/if it opens, I give it one year maximum before it closes. I feel sorry for anyone who’s signed up financially.
