Can't believe there are tickets available for this tonight, thought it would have sold out ages ago.

tonights show just got cancelled as terry hall has a throat infection.

just got this from their publicist;

"THE SPECIALS FORCED TO RE-SCHEDULE TONIGHT’S SHOW AT BRIXTON ACADEMY

The Specials have been forced to re-schedule tonight’s show at London’s Brixton Academy after doctors advised singer Terry Hall to rest up for 24 hours following a throat infection. The band has rescheduled the gig for May 16th and tickets for the May 6th show will be valid for the new date or ticket holders can get a refund at the point of purchase by May 11th. The band deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause their fans and are optimistic that the remaining shows at Brixton Academy – May 7th, 8th, 11th and 12th will go ahead as planned."

Anyone else see The Specials, Madness and the Selecter at the Top rank in 1979 - what a gig that was!

I saw them play a secret gig in Folkestone about 15 years ago. A mate of mine was good friends with a local SKA band called Intensified. Intensified were playing this dive of a pub / venue and he told me to come along since it would be a good night. Unknown to me The Specials were on their way to Germany to do a tour and were dosing down at Intensified's place.

They came on and did a 45 minute set using Intensified's instruments. Was one of the best gigs I have ever experienced. Not because they were that great but because of the closeness of it and the fact that there were only about 50 people there.

They split in 81.
