I've just finished doing a CD for some friends for their world cup bash this afternoon and there is some great music around at the mo, and this has been a fantastic summer so far.

What ONE track would you pick as your 'Sound of the Summer' 06?

Mine would definetely be that new track by Bob Sinclair World Hold On - fantastic summer anthem!

Poptastic mate!

Any more suggestions? It must be the one song you will think about when you look back on our (hopefully) world cup winning year!

Beach Boys - Surfin' Safari or in fact just about any Beach Boys track. I find myself digging the BB's greatest hits out as soon as sunny days arrive. Great summer driving music

Not a new one, but 'I don't like Cricket' is a class summer tune

Brighton, United Kingdom
I've got a friend, her name is Laura
We took a holiday, seven sweet days in Mallorca
We took a plane through to southern Spain
To see the ocean wave's blue
We sat and watched the moon
As crickets sung back cover tunes
Way back in May

Seven, seven days in the sun...yeah
She's my heaven
She's a spark
Feels like heaven
So light me up

She's got this friend, his name is Paula
He likes to cross dress every Friday night in clothes from Prada
We took a train, left behind the rain
To see the summer sunset glow
But now she's not around
I'm hanging on with broken hands
Way above the clouds

Seven days in the sun, seven days in the sun...sun
She's my heaven
She's a spark
Feels like heaven
So light me up

You really light me up
You really light me up
You really light me up
You really light me up
You really

Staring through the crowd
It's pulling me underground
And who's gonna dig me out?

We used to take a walk on velvet sands across the beach
We used to build a fire, and stare into the rising heat
You used to set me free, lift me from the concrete seas
Seven days in the sun

She's my heaven
She's a spark
Feels like heaven
So light me up

You really light me up
You really light me up
You really light me up
You really light me up
You really light me up
You really light me up
You really light me up
You really light me up
You blow my mind

This may sound like a shot in the dark, but there was a record from the sixties, think it may be called summertime. Haven't a clue who sang it but it was used some years ago as part of a drink drive campaign, in fact the name mungo jerry sticks in the mind for some reason so it might have been them.

Golden Brown by the Stranglers, not particularly a summer record but it sounds good on a hot lazy day.

In The Summertime by Mungo Jerry - No1 for 6 weeks in 1970. Is that the one?

You going to see the Brighton Beach Boys on Hove Lawns tomorrow then? They're pretty good.

They can't be worse than what's left of the original ones are these days :) but as I'm in France at the moment that's a no. Would almost certainly have gone otherwise.
