call me a miserable bastard all you want, but the snow is the thickest it's been in my lifetime. Incredible scenes!

I have 2 school runs this morning, Steyning and Littlehampton. I did warn the parents yesterday to expect a phone call from me if the snow is too bad. Phone call it is then.

The most I remember in Worthing was about 1968 I think. Snow started falling as we arrived at school and it kept coming. We were not allowed out for morning break and at 12 we were allowed to go home as it had reached almost 2' in the playground.Quite frightening when you are only 8 and 4' 6" tall !

I remember Brighton getting a lot of snow in Jan 1991 (I recall it vividly because I'd just met my future wife and we got to spend a few days together because work was closed). It was certainly 8-10" deep and it hung around for a few days. That's the last deep snow I can remember.

There was also big snow whilst I was at Brighton Poly - couple of times between 84 and 88 but can't recall the year.

Biggest snow I can remember in Brighton (and like Vegster's view - it may be because I was much smaller) was in the early 70's - perhaps 72/73. Deep, deep snow on Reigate Road and incredible snowman making etc.

Slight aside - we're moving house at last, just towards the middle of Tunbridge Wells. I looked up the road on Google and found this lovely picture from the road in Winter 1962 - an igloo!! That is the winter people talk about as being the classic snow year - but it was three years before I was on the planet, so can't share any tales.

Can't remember it ever being too bad when I lived in Sussex, even the lightest of dustings was exciting. The first winter after moving to Mid-Wales, in the late 70's it was drifting up to 12 feet in the hills and at least a 4 foot covering in the low lying area where we lived.

It's bloody brilliant. Ever seen that episode of The Simpsons where Bart hasn't done his school assignment and prays for a massive snowfall overnight so he can get away with it?

That was me yesterday, was supposed to be doing our annual fitness test this morning, which frankly I couldn't be arsed with. Wake up this morning to find a blanket of snow on the ground and the knowledge that it would almost certainly be cancelled

It's pay day, Friday, my birthday, a snow day, the fitness test was scrapped, and I got to go home early and commence the celebratory drinking three hours in advance of the original plans.

If there's been a more perfect day in recent history, I can't remember it :lolol: :rave::dance::whisky:

What on EARTH was I doing on NSC at 6am? Jesus.

bigger question - how the f*** did you get back to your house quicker than myself back to mine?!

actually, i vaguely remember attempts to construct an igloo at around 5.45am
