Anyone skiing next year? With the way the economy is going right now it's all looking a bit dodgy. We were hoping to ski in France in early February, but with tourist sterling rates not far of 1:1 with the Euro now I'm not sure how we'll be able to afford it.

I'm hoping as bookings fall off and reality bites, there may be some cracking deals coming about soon.

Any good deals about yet? Chuck 'em on here !

Yep. Me, Mrs P & 16 year old daughter. Although maybe trying to get a group together.

I went to Chamrousse last year - check out this website - pretty family orientated but nice skiing and cheap, cheap.

Fly from Stanstead to Grenoble with Ryanair, if you book soon you can get £20 flights. Take a bus from Grenoble up the mountain (4 euros each) - takes an hour.

Chamrousse - Station de sports d'hiver et d're - Alpes - Frances

we stayed in this place and again, very cheap, but comfortable.

I know nothing about skiing, but a mate said that you could get some good deals in Andorra.

I Doubt i'll be going this year, only the 2nd time in 25 years that i've not been :( but the wife is nearly 6 months pregnant so she doesn't really want to risk it.

We went to Serbia last year (and met a Brighton fan who came up to me when he recognised my hat!). It was pretty good. Firstly it's dirt cheap; they've got the equivalent of a 10p NOTE! The ski-ing is beginner to intermediate which is great for families. The downside is it is a little bit 'Soviet' and the accomodation and food is ok but most of it is pretty basic. Also when it was cold it was FREEZING. We had excellent snow but of course that can't be guaranteed.

We're thinking of going there again in 2009.

Chamonix again. One of my favourite places for skiing and cheese.

Rather like those old ladies who live permanently in Fawlty Towers, I shall be off to Les Arcs 1950 for the fourth year running, probably in March and possibly for two weeks this time. Quite tempted to DRIVE it. I can smell the tartiflette pizzas already.

Les Arc is great as is La Plagne and apparently the Vanoise express will reopen this year.
I am so jealous of everybody on this thread :(

Very true. All the evidence suggests skiing is going downhill fast.

Try Ski-Land New Forest, opening soon, with real snow, log cabins, Alpine animals, mulled wine and free parking: all the enchantment of a mountain resort on the Hampshire Dorset border...
