He was a dreadful referee.......but the abject defeat had nothing to do with him.

I disagree as had he followed the rules their number 9 should have been red carded during the melee which would have changed the game.

However we play shit at present.

what was bad about him, apart from the handbags were 4 people got booked, I though he was OK,one of the better ones at Withdean

We would have lost whoever the official

Haven't you been drinking for most of the day though?

He set the tone at kick off, by making them do it THREE times because of encroachment.

He was bollocks, actually he was f***ing abysmal, but he wasn't to blame for the defeat.

Why do we always blame the referee? Ok he was shit tonight, but so was our defending for their four goals!

No one in this thread has actually blamed the ref though, people are just pointing out that he was utter shit. Which he was.

ref was poor but we were worse. El Abd should have been shown 2 reds for that horror challenge, plus elphic could have picked up second yellow for the silly challenge in the corner. their 9 should have gone too.

please don't use ref as the scapegoat though... the man to blame is called dick knight for sacking wendy and bringing back adams.

Why do fans moan when refs send off players, calling for him to "exercise some common sense", then when he does, criticise him for it?

He restarted the kick off three times because the MK Dons right winger was practically on the edge of our area before the kick off was taken. He made the right call.

Sure, he gave some soft free kicks against us, but he kept 22 men on the pitch, and can in no way be blamed for ruining the game, or costing us any points.

Why the HELL did he not send El-Abd off for what was basically attempted murder?

Possibly as he failed to send off their number 9

I think with the melee he just lost control of the situation, looked like at least one player threw punches but they didn't know who or what was happening. Forgiveable, if irritating.

The El-Abd tackle was clear as day, a horror leg breaking tackle that you hate to see from anyone, Brighton player or not. Outrageous decision.

He was a complete arsehole, thought he was the showpiece, blowing up for everything especially in the first half. Maybe someone had a word at half time and he cooled down on his sargent like orders for players to speak with him. He never really let the game flow although the linesman didn't help by awarding some dubious free kicks.
