Gary Anderson has a rubbish record at Lakeside and is playing the bloke that beat him at the World Masters a month or so ago.

However, if he DOES get past the 1st round, which I think he's only managed once in six attempts, he'll probably be the man to beat.

Whitlock, Waites and Adams could be thereabouts as well.

Can anyone else suggest another televised world championship sporting event where the majority of the general public could not name a single participant?

Gary Anderson the joint second best darts player in the world imo.

Whatever happens the conspiracy theorists will be out in force.
If he goes out in the 1st round...he's off to the pdc without any hassle.
If he wins...he's off to the pdc with a premier league wildcard guaranteed.

personally, i think 3/1 is massive and it's gonna be his year before joining the pdc and giving the power a run for his money !

I have always viewed the BDO as a division below the PDC, every time someone wins the BDO they seem to get Promoted to the PDC.
My guess there is not a player in the BDO that would not want to play in the higher league.

Head to head, PDC darts is better. However the HOME of darts is Frimley Green, and so is the BDO. Taylor and Co are top draw darts but remember they invite you to join their set-up unlike the BDO which is truely open.

BDO is the governing body of darts we play week in week out.
i played county darts up until 2 years ago, every time i signed up for the sussex super league, i had to sign a contract stating that i wouldnt enter any competition not sanctioned by the BDO (ie...PDC).

BDO is where the game of darts started........but the PDC is where its at.
PDC is where the best players in the world wanna play

Can anyone else in the PDC do it either?

Webster (BDO world champ) beat Part (PDC world champ) and Anderson (BDO no 1) beat Wade (PDC no 3) in the grand slam in November.

Im not anti PDC but if you prefer watching another Taylor 5-0 over the Webster/Whitlock final last year then good luck.

Isn't the PDC just the darts equivalent of the premier league? A Sky cash fueled plastic over the top monstrosity compared to the more grass roots BDO.

Good analogy. If you want to get more specific I'd say the BDO are the darts equivalent of Leeds - a big name 2 divisions below the elite, failing to keep or attract the big names, run by a has-been with delusions of grandeur in a crumbling facility.

If you put the Top 10 players in the BDO up against those ranked 11-20 in the PDC my money would still be on the the PDC.

Why do the BDO players consistently match up to the PDC ones in inter code tournaments then??

Anderson would walk into the Premier league if he switched.
