De Zerbi in Comparison to Potter. De Zerbi's highs were higher than Potter's. But De Zerbi's lows were significantly lower. Some of the football I've watched in 2024 has been god damn awful.

Reading this board, it's funny how you have to be Team Potter or team De Zerbi. People trying to rewrite history to suit that teams narrative.
For most of 2024 we were missing March, Mitoma, Enciso, Hinshelwoid, Fati, Lamptey and Ferguson. Adingra spent a month of it at AFCON, Estupinian was in and out. Veltman got injured. Milner was mostly out, thank Christ.

No one’s pretending RDZ’s last few months were great but you do see the mitigation, right?

BOTH were good for us, both turned into shitheads and thought they were better than us sadly. One has failed abysmally, the other we’ll see

I don’t know Bournemouth away under Potter was fecking abysmal, and puts the RdZ one in the shade for me.

Let’s not forget Potter’s home record was quite poor and arguably COVID saved him in some respects. There is no rewriting there whatsoever.

Can’t deny though RdZ was less interested January onwards and it showed.

There’s no point in you being there. We have to support whoever Bloom chooses. Everybody acting like Potter has done you a personal attack. You all get worse things done to you day to day than a manager changing clubs. Yeah I was annoyed when he left but I’ve got over it. We can pick over how he did last time in the smallest way but I remember him getting this club really believing we could do something (Europe, fa cup). Yes RDZ got us in to Europe but on the back of what potter built. RDZ was never gonna change Blooms transfer policy and nor should he and now he’s in the running for the Chelsea job ! The famous boxing promoter Mickey Duff used to say If you want loyalty buy a dog.

We need to support potter if he does come.
This.

Has anyone had a GF who dumps you for a Flash Harry, then, after it doesn't work out, some months later ask if you fancy meeting for a coffee.... how did it pan out? ???

(I have minor variations on that theme in my portfolio of misjudgments, but nothing sufficiently similar to use as a yardstick).

Let’s not pretend Fati was any sort of loss 😂

i’ll personally support him if he comes, however others might not. tony has to know this, and if dividing the fanbase is worth it to him in order to have a docile personality at the helm who won’t rock the boat recruitment-wise, then so be it, and i’ll back him if that’s the case because i trust him.

i do think it would be a huge gamble on things starting well, though. if we go back to routinely losing at home or potter starts playing mitoma at wingback and rattling on about ‘history lessons’ again, the reunion will go very sour very quickly and that won’t be the fault of the fans who didn’t want potter back

The roving reporter on R5 on the Monday night club airily mentioned that Potter is favourite for the job (our manager) now, in passing, when dribbling on about Chels.

I don't want Potter back but regardless of this, the issue our next manager will have is the same one RDZ had this season.

In 22/23 we had an incredible squad and a midfield that was probably one of the best in the country. Unless we can find another Caicedo, Mac, Cucarella, Mwepu and Colwell, we won't be a top 6 side any time soon. That's not a problem, it's unrealistic to expect us to become a permanent fixture of the top 6. However, it's also unrealistic to expect we can find ready made replacements for those players. They arguably made Potter look a better coach than he was.

As for RDZ, I loved having him here but I wonder if his personality might mean his career will be more remembered for the influence his innovative tactical approach has on football rather than his number of trophies. In that way, I think he may be a bit like Bielsa.

You could argue he was.

Pre Forest he was great. After that injury he played like a player who was scared of getting injured.

After that RDZ kept him out and quite rightly. No one was saying ‘bring on Fati’ by the end.

Thanks, Mr Barber.

And thanks for telling NSC before it was announced. The right thing to do.

I'm off to the bookies...

As an expensive RDZ choice, allegedly, that doesn’t sound great. Throw in the alleged falling out with Dahoud and it asks questions about how well RDZ thinks things through. TB picks up the bill though
