Unfortunately I'm not witty or musical enough to post any kind of song here, but in a monet of clarity I have thought things through and this is my conclusion:
It's a shame he's gone, but the club is still here. We will have some kind of new stadium soon enough. There will be other players to idolise, Kurt Nogans, Jeff Mintons, Ian Chapmans etc. We are privileged to have seen Bobby play so often in the stripes and the players around him must have benifitted from the first division experience he helped them get.
Look at other teams. Wigan didn't have Bobby Zamora. Crewe didn't have Bobby Zamora and Cardiff had some alien playing up front for them. They all got out of Division Two last year. We've got a good side, a couple of strikers, one a 20 goal a season mana nd the other a creator would really help.
I also happen to think our much maligned youth team players may be able to show they are up to the job this year. They are a year older and a year stronger, as well as having played a little bit at a higher level.
I'm 100 per cent confident that by October we will have someone up front who can score goals. Whereas before we needed someone but it was hardly vital as Bobby hardly ever got injured and would always score (hence why Steeley spent so much time on the bench), now we need to actually get someone in. And we have the manager that decided Ian Wright was right for professional football, remember he broke the Arsenal goalscoring record.
Overall, the club goes on. We will have the ecstacy of promotion and the devastation of relegation in equal measure over the next 20 years and throughout my lifetime.
Finally, remember this, nothing is as bad as November 1996.
