As one relapsed Catholic to another no. I never believed it was the actual body of Christ and even the evil fuckwit, whores of Christ nuns who taught me at primary school never said as such.

Another lapsed Catholic...........me neither. Infact never heard that before.

Btw, this will run another 7 pages

Biggums, you have spent a lot of time dissecting my posts alas I do not have the same time to return the compliment.

Suffice it to say we will not agree anyway so even less reason for me to spend any time setting out a rational position you would accept. I did like your joke though.........me ponitificating on the Pontiff, how I laughed at your wit.

For the record though (and in my opinion) the Catholic faith is balls deep in hypocrisy, self gratification, the blood of the poor and the tight clean arses of the young.................it is in 2009 and has always been since the Medicis and backwards.

It is lead by an individual of dubious character; lets face it anyone who gets to the top of their particular professional tree will be some kind of a c*nt.

He could make changes, its not like he has to please an electorate is it; but he doesn't. I don't expect the for sale board to go up in St Peter's Square, however the Catholic Church is effectively a bank with a religious doctrine attached. Accordingly what the organisation preach and what they do in practice is bollocks, and like the Politician and their acolytes here it shames all the decent priests etc. that are working hard out in manifestly tragic conditions.

Ultimately then (and back to the oribginal point) the UK has a policy of refusing entry to those we consider as un-enlightened so how come this old fucker with has present and past is waltzing through passport control without a by your leave.

Like I said if it was up to me I would throw the talcy bastard straight in the f***ing oven pre heated on gas mark 4, his red Prada slippers and all.

Slagging off the Catholic Religion is not unreasonable,it's no worse than many other offerings. After all, what's the point of Protestants becoming Catholics just because the C of E now ordains women ? I don't agree with reliigion in general but I do acknowledge that for all the harm it does it also does a lot of good.

Frankly the Pope coming here won't bother me but it will make the millions of this country's Catholics very happy, what's wrong with that ? What will bother me are the people who will protest at his coming as no doubt there will be.

The distance between London and Rome is 889.34 miles. So why has it taken 27 f***ing YEARS for the pontiff to return?? Even ungracious, inconsiderate, unwanted relatives put in an appearance at weddings and funerals every ten years or so...

Well...given that this Pope claims that Protestant churches are not "real churches" then it bother one or two people...

You have a real problem with Britain or England dont you ! Why ? and why come on an English message board if at every opportunity you have a dig !!

I think you will find Our & your royal family have started several wars over the years !! And so have countless other royal familes throughout the world so why just single us out again ?

Come on cut us some slack Tyrone, People like yourself are the reason why we as a nation are constantly looking back when we should be proud of our history and be more positive. As you say No country or Race is better than another and they have all committed atrocities of somekind at somepoint.

Nothing at all against the English, and yes any other institution around the world will ahve similar historys.

I think you've missed the point of what I was trying to say.

I was pointing out the fact that despite the fact they own many, many propertys and have millions of $$ stashed away it would be ridiculous to dictate to them that they should sell it all up to appease some nuff nuffs opinion.

It's actually better in their hands as it helps preserve many wonderful properties, castles and their contents which are part of England's rich history.

And the same goes for the many wonderful antiquities in the possesion of the RC church.

Forgive me for being pedantic but the most victimised part of Polish society were 3 million Polish Jews. The Catholic Church helped the nazis to power in Germany by dissolving the Centre Party and supported fascism in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Croatia and eastern europe.

That's only telling a small part of the story.

The Reichskonkordat was signed in 1933, you lef tthat part out!

Early on (1933-39) many leaders of various nations and organisations worked with Hitler's people. That's because at that stage nobody really knew what was going on.

I mean really, do we hold Neville Chamberlain and his nation responsible for supporting the Munich agreement which basically signed Czechoslovakia's death warrant in 1938!

Of course not, it was 1938 and they had no idea still what the Nazi's true intentions were.

They did it hoping that it would appease the Nazis and avoid conflict.

Mit brennender Sorge was written in 1937 by a future Pope in Pius XII.

On 20 July 1933, the Vatican signed an agreement with Germany called the Reichskonkordat, partly in an effort to stop Nazi persecution of Catholic institutions.

When this escalated to include physical violence, Pope Pius XI issued the 1937encyclical Mit brennender Sorge.

Drafted by the future Pope Pius XII and read from the pulpits of all German Catholic churches, it criticized Hitler, detailed Nazi crimes and condemned Nazi ideology and has been characterized by scholars as the "first great official public document to dare to confront and criticize Nazism" and "one of the greatest such condemnations ever issued by the Vatican."

The impact of the encyclical was immense and the infuriated Nazis increased their persecution of Catholics and the Church by initiating a of persecution of Catholic clergy and other measures. Five days later another encyclical, Divini Redemptoris denounced Communism in even stronger language.

The whole the old hat line of the Catholic Church wholly supporting the Nazi's is rubbish.

Like anything at the time including Australia, UK, USA, France etc there were elements in each groups that were what would be called traitors to their peoples true feelings and ideals.

Biggums, just to be clear on your old hat line.

The Vatican knowingly provided a mechanism to help Nazi war criminals escape justice, it was known as the Ratline..............do you think this is fact of fiction?

Check out the involvement of Monsignor Montini, later Pope Paul VI and Bishop Hudal.

The Vatican knowingly provided a mechanism via their own Bank to launder Nazi loot and plunder....................do you think this is fact or fiction?

See court case in US Alperin vs. Vatican Bank.

I could go on about the Vatican and its involvement with the Ustaschi, the legacy is anything but history or old hat. Other allied Govts were subsequently involved too, but then these are politicians who are moral bottom feeders anyway. Unlike the papacy though they do not hide behind a religious doctrine.

Old hat..............i should coco.

Let's release those big money balls?

Ideally I'd expect to see him discussing papal infalibility and it's relevance to a patriarchical society on Loose Women
