The rides on there are very expensive and poor value. Now they are unsafe too!! The trouble is has anyone noticed how many of these cheap Eastern immigrant workers they have employed on there who can barely speak a word of English........perhaps this is how THIS happened!!?:

(From The Argus)
Fairground thrill turns to terror after blunder on pier

A teenager was left dangling 120ft over the sea without a safety belt after a blunder by fairground ride operators.

Billy Rogers, 15, was looking forward to the adrenalin rush when he took his place on the Super Booster at the end of Palace Pier in Brighton, during a family day out at the weekend.

But the thrill soon turned to terror after the ride took off before his safety harness had been locked in place and he found himself swinging precariously above the sea.

He and three teenage girls had landed safely after their five minutes were over. One attendant undid the harness ready for them to get off when, inexplicably, the ride took off again and suspended them in the air with just a shoulder strap to keep them in.

Billy's father Bryn, from Luton, ran to the ride operators and asked them to bring the swing down to safety but was stopped by a security guard and it was five to ten minutes before they did so.

He said: "I was beside myself. It may have been no more than 10 minutes but it felt like hours.

"The girls were absolutely hysterical when they came down and my son has been having nightmares and screaming all night long.

"He used to love all sorts of rides but I don't think he will ever go on one again."

Mr Rogers said a manager refunded all four teens the £20 for their arm bands but no first aid for shock or any type of after care was offered.

The irate father said he had spent more than £150 on the family that day and much more on other trips to the pier and was outraged over the service he had received.

He said: "Safety should be paramount but I just don't believe the pier is safe anymore.

"How can people who don't know how to operate dangerous machinery be left unsupervised?

"I have been to the pier many times but I won't be able to come back to it ever again.

"It is a shame because I have got lots of great memories there."

A spokesman from the Palace Pier said: "We are aware of an incident yesterday where it was necessary to activate the emergency stop procedures on one of our Rides.

"The customer was never at any risk and staff acted in accordance with the relevant Health and Safety procedures."

Lets hope the West Pier/Brighton eye takes all their business. The 'noble' organisation is one of the most arrogant businesses I have ever encountered.

But it says young Billy was after an adrenalin rush. Surely hanging over the sea for 20 minutes facing possible instant death was just the job?

I reckon his dad should have paid them extra, not got his money back.

In my defence, I was left unsupervised.

Haven't been on the rides on the pier for ages. A few years ago we worked that as a family of four we could go to Thorpe Park for the same amount as about two trips to the pier with the kids going on everything they want. As I say that was a few years ago so I'm not sure if it's any better value now.

I've actually changed my opinion of the Noble organisation over the last few years. Initially I was pleased that they'd rescued what had become a moribund attraction already well on its way to emulating the West Pier. Now I think they're a load of money-grabbing shysters.

When will people realise that the pier is just one permanent shit strip that stretches out into the sea. The dodgy fairground at the end wouldn't look out of place stuck on Southwick Green, Preston Park or Hove Lawns...

... avoid at all costs.

I for one would like to see the pier come under the ownership of local-run company, its proper name restored, and some of the tacky shit removed from it.

Is there anyone here who actually believes the Noble company was NOT responsible for burning the West Pier to the ground just a week after it was granted lottery funding.

Whether or not they did, they are TWATS for renaming it from the Palace Pier. I hope they go bust and a proper company take over the joint.

Why do the Argus insist on calling it the Palace Pier still? it is called the Brighton Pier and has been called that for a few years now.

That's not quite as bad as the people who say "what do you need a new ground for? it's your fault for selling the last one" but it's just as ill-informed.

The Palace Pier was built between 1891 and 1899 and was called The Palace Pier for over 100 years until 2000 when the Noble organisation unofficially renamed it to Brighton Pier due to the perceived threat of the West Pier. The National Piers Society has never recognised the change of name.

Whilst a thriving pier is a good thing, the Noble Organisation runs it purely for their own profit with seemingly little consideration for local people or history.

(Sorry iCereal Killer not aimed at you specifically but the whole Palace Pier, Noble thing really winds me up)

The pier is a f***ing pike fest, why anyone would go there on a day out is beyond me.

I haven't been on the pier for 2+1/2 years, and that was only to take some foreign students there (only went on for 15 mins mind)

But I agree, it is an absaloute shit hole and deserves better than this Noble company.

The thing is, it COULD be so much better than it is. Noble are only interested in taking money off people rather than providing an entertainment experience. It is, and always will be to true Brightonians, The PALACE Pier.

Didn't the rollercoaster almost come of the rails afew years ago?

If I remember rightly I think they actually started the coaster with a section of the track missing. The ride was meant to be out of order yet some idiot still loaded people in and set the ride going before someone else noticed their error.
