What will now happen to all the old loans which Perry and Knight had catagorically said on more than one occasion where all in place to build Falmer.
Can I have them now ?

I don't think they ever said that.

"The funding is all in place." Or in other words, Tony Bloom has agreed to cover the shortfall between what the Banks will loan us and what we need.

The Banks haven't lent us anything, so that shortfall is erm, well, actually, all of it. Thanks Tony.

Yeah I forward that to. Thanks a lot Tony.

I agree thanks Tony because as it has beeen said by Perry and Knight without him Falmer would not have happened. Thats just a little different than the official line just a month ago though.
The funding as they told us was NOT IN PLACE AT ALL.
Without Bloom upping his investment massively Falmer would be a dead duck.

It depends how you define 'in place'. Tony Bloom (aka 'The Funding') was definitely 'in place' at that time.

The ' difference ' i.e the loans from the banks was certainly not in place like we were led to believe. There has been a change of tack Jim. I appreciate that Bloom`s money was always there but Knight was talking of a loan or mortgage that was substantial in its amount and that figure has now become zero.

Thats slightly different than we were led to believe....................

Bloom is now our bank,as it seems the banks didnt want the job.We have a loan on easy terms, but the money is not a gift. The good thing is the better the team the more chance the Blooms Bank will be repaid......

I agree - the way I understood it earlier was that the banks would fund the stadium and that Bloom would act as guarantor for the loans - in case we were unable to afford the repayments. The way it is now is better for us as, presumably, we won't have to repay any interest at all.

I would think that Knight was aware of the problem for some time and it could be that his greatest achievement was in 'persuading' Bloom to take on the debt in its entirety in exchange for his chair. Not a bad swap in my view.

I wondered why Knight was keeping quiet of late. He had been talking to the ''Saviour'' of Falmer.

We would have been mightily f***ed when it was revealed the banks had decided not to lend us any money to build Falmer. If it wasn't for TB the best case scenario would have been extending the lease at Withdean until 2030.

Its interesting reading back on some of the threads where the usual know alls said that the money was in place for Knight and Perry to go forward and build Falmer.

It's no coincidence that Dick Knight has again appeared on telly justifiying that we would have got 18,000 for the visit of Leeds. They have to do all they can to try and make their case look good, but sadly the best companies in the world are struggling to convince the banks to lend, so little old Albion have no chance.

The banks won't give a shit about what Dick Knight says publicly - that's four our consumption, not theirs.

It's interesting that your opinion on the banks jars totally with that of the people working on the Falmer project. Unless you care to call them liars. Or misguided. Or wrong.

Guess who ?
