This seems to be an ideal candidate for such an ongoing thread.
There is some merit too it, it looks very pretty, but isn't of itself 'worthy' of it's own thread.

I'm thinking Chelsea is the model to follow, despite Giroud ruining it for them and the Albion are pretty much there.

Fulham's commitment to yoof isn't going so well, unlike palace's commitment to age - they really are the B&Q of the EPL (being ahead of us in the table is a shame we all have to carry)

Belgian Blue is one of the most direct passers in the PL.

People sometimes complain about Gross set pieces but they are among the best in the PL.

Seems to support my suspicion that James Ward-Prowse is nothing more a 'special teams' set piece show pony who runs around a lot. What he is doing in the England squad is completely beyond me. He will be yet another to add to the long list of over-promoted tidy midfielders to be lauded against no-hopers in qualifying and then utterly outclassed by any half decent opponent at the finals.

Yeh, we wouldn't want any of those players in the bottom left. Useless the lot of them. Tielemans? What have you ever created? ... (apart from the exceptional no look pass at the amex) Do one Youri. Robertson and Saka and Silva? We’d have to loan them to the Championship. Kane and Salah? They never create anything … (apart from being near the top of the assist chart).

It’s great to have this sort of statistical analysis to disprove my misapprehension that they’re pretty good.

I'm not sure what you are on about. My point was that JWP is an outlier. Look how far he is behind everyone on the graph for chances from open play. Look at just the horizontal axis. Only Aaron Cresswell, a defender who takes free kicks, is anywhere near him at the bottom and even he beats him. Its obviously far more forgivable to not create much from deadball situations as most teams have specialists for that and a lot of those you mention rarely take them. However, they are all way ahead of JWP for open play chances. He is only on the graph at all because of his free kicks and England already have the options of Mount, Shaw and Maddison who are all ahead of him on his one specialty. It's a useful skill to have, but shouldn't be enough to warrant an England call up in a creative role, let alone to have been given more caps than Grealish, the English midfielder on there who is an outlier in a positive way. Of course Grealish is at a disadvantage with the current numpty in charge, because unlike JWP, he didn't prove himself a good company man by playing for all of the England youth teams.
