Still confused, keep your money safe under the matress or invest in shares :p

And you think share trading is not gambling?!?

The only time I've ever been stressed about gambling was when I was "investing" in the stock market...

It can be stressful when you are "investing" money you don't have with the intention of getting out before the end of the settlement period. Apparently.

Just tuned in for the winner - HOW did that win? You might as well dress 1066 up as Henry VII and he'd be in with a chance.

What a gimic!:lolol:

That voting was as comical as usual, all the Scandinavian countries vote for each other, and all the eastern block countries vote for Russia to keep them sweet. Even if Britain had the finest song ever written we'd be lucky to make the top ten.

Not too sure. Remember Ireland gave us the most points and they're our nearest neighbours. The eastern bloc vote is a bit more complicated than what you say. Languages and localities come into the equation - the Baltics all joined together to break free of the Russians and therefore remain close, yet they also have significant populations of Russians living in the country. Latvia's population for example consists of 44% Russian speaking people - if they can't vote for Latvia they'll vote for the next nearest thing to home. Ukraine and Armenia also have a significant Russian populations. Then you have countries whose languages are closely related to each other - Bulgarian and Russian, Finnish and Estonian. Yes, they sang in English but the Russians sent their equivalent of Ronan Keating who will have a huge following in that part of Europe and therefore their fan clubs from each country will vote for that particular person.

The former Yugoslav countries with the exception of Slovenia all speak Serbo-Croat which the Bosnian entry was sung in and thus understand by the voters of Serbia and Croatia and to a lesser extent, Slovenia and Macedonia. The population themselves have close links with each different part, imagine if Britain split up into four separate countries the close personal links that have built up over generations would not go away, relatives and friends would still be in contact despite political borders and these entities would still be influenced by each other.

To actually understand the voting patterns you have to understand each country's language, culture and history and with the eastern bloc taking the competition very seriously it just highlights how isolated we are in terms of neighbours and understanding Europe as a whole.

The fact that Finland won discounts the skewered neighbour voting theory. If the song or routine is strong enough it will overcome voting boundaries.

Hard Rock Hallelujah!
Hard Rock Hallelujah!

The saints are crippled
On this sinners’ night
Lost are the lambs with no guiding light

The walls come down like thunder
The rocks about to roll
It’s the Arockalypse
Now bare your soul

All we need is lightning
With power and might
Striking down the prophets of false
As the moon is rising
Give us the sign
Now let us rise up in awe

Rock ’n roll angels bring thyn hard rock hallelujah
Demons and angels all in one have arrived
Rock ’n roll angels bring thyn hard rock hallelujah
In God’s creation supernatural high

The true believers
Thou shall be saved
Brothers and sisters keep strong in the faith
On the day of Rockoning
It’s who dares, wins
You will see the jokers soon’ll be the new kings

All we need is lightning
With power and might
Striking down the prophets of false
As the moon is rising
Give us the sign
Now let us rise up in awe

Rock ’n roll angels bring thyn hard rock hallelujah
Demons and angels all in one have arrived
Rock ’n roll angels bring thyn hard rock hallelujah
In God’s creation supernatural high

Wings on my back
I got horns on my head
My fangs are sharp
And my eyes are red
Not quite an angel
Or the one that fell
Now choose to join us or go straight to Hell

Hard Rock Hallelujah!
Hard Rock Hallelujah!
Hard Rock Hallelujah!
Hard Rock Hallelujah!

Rock ’n roll angels bring thyn hard rock hallelujah
Demons and angels all in one have arrived
Rock ’n roll angels bring thyn hard rock hallelujah
In God’s creation supernatural high

Hard Rock Hallelujah!

Did you notice that only the French avoided the English language during the voting. They think they are too good for us.
