The next Darlington - a folly of a stadium in div 2.

Well, unless things change and slade is replaced, and the slide halted, that could conceivably happen. Darlington did it, and we are no bigger club than them, and before the rose tinted
"we are bha and should have automatic entry into the premier league" brigade start the usual deluded abuse, there is already expectation of the lowest crowd of the season so far this Saturday, against a half decent Oldham.

What would defeat mean then to the head in the sand brigade???????

Darlo only ever had crowds of 2-3K at Feethams, and are in the shadow of far bigger north-east neighbours. They have spent almost their entire existance in the basement, there was never a fanbase to build on there.

I'm not saying we are Barcelona, nor will we be playing to anywhere near capacity at Falmer. But to compare us with Darlington is taking the doom-mongering a little further than the reality of the situation. Even if Darlo were in the Championship, I doubt they'd be getting any more than 6k there.

One guy said he thinks it will be the lowest gate, and suddenly that's the 'expectation.'

Seriously..

Our crowds are average in League one and our stadium and it's facilities are amongst the worst in the football league. Even if we did find ourselves in div4 when Falmer opens we would still get decent crowds and certainly wouldn't be in a Darlington situation, as other posters have highlighted, Darlington have never had much of a fan base and probably never will.

With regard to us being no bigger than Darlington! They never palyed above division two and that was in 1925, their highest ever attendance was 21,023 in 1960 in the fa cup which to me shows they are one of the smaller teams in the football league much, much smaller than Brighton.

Fishing? Grow up. YOU are the head in the sand/Reose tinted:

"WE ARE BHA, AND WOULD HAMMER BARCELONA BRIGADE"

brigade, who, if you are not accusing people of fishing, you seem to hurl abuse at them. Try opening your eyes, look at the crowd sizes and league position.

FACTS DON'T LIE................CUE ABUSE:bla::bla::bla::bla::bla::bla::bla::bla::bla::bla:
Brighton are getting just 6000, with a few hundred away fans tipping it over the 6000 mark, why should it rise to anything higher. Simple really.

With all due respect you have not one piece of evidence to support this.
There is nothing to sudgest this would happen, especially with threads appearing asking people if they can be bothered to go this weekend.

Darlo have 3 big clubs draining support from the local area. Not going to happen at Falmer with competition from Eastbourne , Lewes & Crawley.
