More likely a 12.15pm . A 5.15pm ish is also a possiblity.

Then of course there is the possibilty of the prelude to the Charity Shield (or whatever its called) on the Sunday the 7th.

However, would we want a Friday night kick off on the 5th? (although potential problems with Race day traffic that day) or even a Monday night affiar.

Can't see either Sky or the Beeb NOT wanting the first competitive match at most eagerly anticipated stadium in history live on one of their channels.

Best keep the whole 4 days free if I were you.

How many first games at new stadiums have been on tv? I can't think of many. I'd like to think we wouldn't change it for the sake of £50k.

Dont think it will be the 50k that swings it, Tony Bloom and co are rightly very proud of the Stadium (as are the rest of us) and i think the prestige and the chance to show off their new stadium are what will swing it.

We're almost certainly going to be on tv early in the season even if it isn't the first game. We can show off the stadium any time but the the first game should be for the fans that have been waiting 13 years for it. I'd be royally pissed off if it was moved to a 12:15 to accommodate SKY. Anything other than a 3pm would be a travesty.

a 12.15 kick off could mean come the end of the game we would be top of the Championship if we win or draw as the only game played so far :) (Of course should we lose then we would be bottom :( )

Exactly this! No one apart from the BHA family gives a monkeys about our new ground. We might get featured match status on the Football League show if we are in the Championship.

I also expect we face the prospect of the first game of next season being an away fixture and thus the first home game either the first tuesday or second saturday! No doubt the club can request a preference.

Eh? A home fixture is as nailed on as promotion. Its all nudge nudge wink wink at the presentations. And Caroline Lucas said so as well.

Anything other than a 3pm Saturday kick off would be an absolute joke, and I can't for a second imagine that Tony Bloom will have it any other way even if Sky or whoever else try to shove their noses in.

Why? So the beeb say we want to put your first game live on BBC1 12:30pm 6th August (or 7th) Bloom says 'no fack off we don't want the media attention or the massive extra revenue this could attract'. I mean I don't know if you've noticed he isn't short of an idea to recoup his cash, and rightly so.

Being pragmatic but precisely nothing is nailed on yet, either promotion or the first game being at our new home. I seem to recollect though (via NSC) that clubs can make requests in anticipation of the new seasons fixtures being produced - ie negotiation or nudge nudge wink wink. Cheers.

Media attention can come at any game.

MASSIVE extra revenue, are you serious? This game is indescribably important to thousands of fans, there's no way the club will sell out for a few extra quid

First game at home is as good as nailed on, Sussex Police when asked will be telling the FL that we can't play at home on weekend of 13th/14th due to Pride. FL could of course put us away for first 2 weeks but very much doubt it.

As for being live, the club cannot refuse should Sky or BBC pick the game as a live one and i think you'll find this is already being anticipated. The start date of the PL 2011 hasn't been announced yet and rumours are it may start 1 week early next season to help with Euro2012. If so then SKY will no doubt show PL games 6th/7th which just leaves the BBC.

If the game was shown live then all the people who can't be there can at least have some sense of involvment.

In my opinion, this would be a good thing as after all it's not going to have any effect on attendance.

That is exactly the type of circumstance that gives weight to the "as good as nailed on" feeling and will obviously further the case for a home game in formal requests. I hope we do see the first one at home, particularly as the excitement at this point in time that I am feeling would be at breaking point if we have to wait any longer.
