Everyone's agreed we need a powerful, skillful midfielder right?

Well l've done some extensive scouting (talked to the Sheff Utd fan who sits next to me at work) and the answer appears to be Kevin McDonald.

He's 6 ft 1, their best passer, and still only mid 20s. He's played in the Prem with Burnley and with the Championship with Sheff Utd. Not they're not going up, he will almost certainly be sold. Seems they'd want about £1m.

They can keep him for that price. We are not mugs, we won't pay more than £500,000 for a league 1 player. To splash £1m I'd want to know that they could cope well in the championship

51 appearances for Burnley would suggest he could!

I do like this bit on Wiki from his time at Burnley.....

"It was reported in 2010 that McDonald had been disciplined by the club for going to a pub during half-time after being substituted in a 6–1 thrashing by Manchester City. It was later discovered that he had only attended the pub for a matter of minutes as his father, who was in town to watch the game, sent him back to the ground."

:lolol: I thought you might have something to say
If you were fishing then congratulations, you got me, I took the bait. I'm not going to bother arguing with you because you've made up your mind beyond anything I could say, but I have two questions - (1) why, in the face of all the evidence to the contrary, do you persist with this £3.5m figure? Even though it's well documented we didn't pay that? (2) How many goals would CMS have needed to score for him to be 'a success'? Or to put it another way, how many goals would he need to score this coming season to change your mind? Genuinely curious.

Here we go ...
Not sure what your point is exactly but would you care to articulate it?

Let's just get 1 thing straight. I do not dislike CMS, I just think he is not good enough. He adds very little to the team imo. Sorry if that upsets you. I dont just think it to piss you off. I would love him to be a success here. Just cannot see it happening. The 3.5million thing come from Barry Fry in a tv interview. I will find it for you :)

I wasn't taking it personally don't worry, I just find it curious that you seem to take literally any moment you can to slag him off. I think he under-delivered on what we paid for him and isn't as clinical as he can be, but I also think he wasn't given the supply he should have been, and has another 3 years left on his contract - ergo, I will continue to back him and give him time.

I could compile i list of reports saying we paid 2, 2.2, 2.5, 3.0, 3.25, 3.5, the truth is you or I don't know. I would go with what Barry Fry says though. He is the blokes father in law after all.
