The left back position

Is anyone else baffled by Wilkins thinking with the left back position. Kerry started at Crewe and had a poor match and so Rents came in. In my opinion Rents did ok but then finds himself dropped for El abd who is not even a left back.

Then today Richards had a stinker - even when we had 5 mins to go and were losing, Wilkins chose el-abd to come on who is defensive minded and Rents who can deliver an excellent cross stays on the bench.

If I was Rents I would be UTTERLY f***ed off by the whole thing.

wilkins loves el abd way too much, and seems to want to fit him into the side wherever he can

rents is clearly our best left back - even stevie wonder could see that

meh - personally from what i've seen Rents still lacks confidence going into moves - that is really the only thing you can hold against the lad

he is the player made for the position but i don't still think he is completely ready - HOWEVER i don't think he can do as badly as Richards did today...

or as badly as el abd last week
or as badly as mayo at crewe

which, with lynch out, means he is currently our best bet to play at left back

can't disagree with any of that - just think it's too early to see the best of him ..

And where will his confidence come from? Isn't that the managers job. So how much confidence is gained from being passed over again & again?

Richards looked like a poor version of El Abd. Wilkins said about his left foot being strong but I didnt notice

He can take Cox's place next week when he moves to the right wing to let Jake play up front. Rents in at the back and we beat Swansea.

We couldn't beat an egg at the moment so I think Swansea are safe from our ferocious attack.

i think although richards was shaky it was nerv's and will prove to be a good signing

but can't see what the problem with rents is and why we are in need of a left back

I do not think that left back is a major concern as we have players who can play there. A more pressing concern is still a target man to hold the ball up for Forster and a first choice competant goalkeeper.

Think a more pressing concern is a midfielder who can actually pass the ball to the frontmen
