Have many on here been to the Komedia before? If so, how do you rate it? I am going on Friday night for the third time with my mates and I have always found it to be a top night out, acts are usually very funny, food is good and drinks are not too bad.

Curious to know if people rate it as highly as I do? :drink:

Saw Ezio there a few years ago, quite shit really as it was a seated venue which really doesn't suit them.

Yeah I like the place - I've been there a couple of times and had a good laugh on both occasions.

Been twice this month. Funny acts, now and then get the odd one who is not that good, but I would score this place 8/10.

Used to hate it when smoking was allowed.

Top night out. Have probably only seen one or two poor acts in the 6 or seven times I have been there.

It's nearly always a good night out. Don't think they do table service for beer - they do for the fairly decent food though. Prices OK-ish (a tad high, but not exorbitant). The comedy acts can be either brilliant or OK - never known a completely duff one there.

Incidentally, Komedia has something in common with Withdean - despite some people thinking otherwise, there's no 'The' in front of it. :)

Agree with what's been said, I've never had a REALLY bad night there; it can be patchy, but then so can anything. I love the way the front tables are the last to be filled as people know they're going to get picked on! Sometimes they offer free food to get people to sit there!

PS - I don't think I've ever seen anybody there that I knew before I went.

I've been there many times but I've never seen tables at the front, let alone table service. The tables are at the back surely? However, I've never been for comedy nights so maybe it's different then.

brighton, actually
went just before the smoking ban went nationwide- they only let people light up after 8pm, to give diners a chance of some 'clean air'.

drinks and food were pricey, but the portions and quality looked good. we say terry anderton and 2 others, on the wednesday club- £12 I think it was, a good night overall.

One thing I forgot to mention is that drinks are bloody expensive. £3.50 for a pint of Dark Star is well over the top.

I went to the wierest show in the world at the Komedia. It was a one man puppet show adaptation of The Tempest for kids. A very scary and bendy bloke in a leotard interspersed with short films about orphaned children in Africa. My daughter made the perfect critical comment by crying insanely from about 5 minutes in, allowing me to exit to the bar where we did some colouring in.

Very strange day.

I go most Sundays. You might like to ask the compere (and NSC semi-regular) Comedy Steve who's appearing as he runs the comedy club.
