This is very true. As someone who is mildly anti-royal family this interview has me asking a few questions. Mainly about the royal family and the British press.

so far:

Who is actually running the show? She calls it 'the firm' but actually who are these people organising the head of state of a major country.

Who actually benefits from the royal family? Seems like they have a rough time of it (seemingly mainly at the hand of the British press). So they don't really benefit, what do they actually do for the people of the UK?

It is a pretty scathing insight into a fairly frightening organisation. How much of this is true?

The British press needs to be reigned in. Stop buying the shitty rags peddling this shit. Who does it benefit?

How on Earth do we know how true her statements are and are not just said to justify her not finding out quickly she didnt want a life of Royalty and wanted to go back to America. No way are Royal family able to give answers to her allegations

We can probably judge the Royal Family but their past performance on this one. Just watch the Diana interviews again....!

Also incredible that she managed to coerce Harry into going along with it to

Yeah a huge problem with communication in the royal family.

Who knows where the truth lies. As predicted shortly after watching that I have returned to my prior state of complete indifference to the whole affair.

Albeit somewhat more inclined to see the whole bloody institution binned in favour of something that isn't handed down by right of birth. I say 'right' of birth as if it is a positive, what I have seen tonight is further proof that the life of a royal is not one I would fancy.

Good luck to Harry and Megan, I hope their new life brings them happiness.

I have to admit that I have never enjoyed so much RF attention than this morning and I cannot wait to watch the interview in all its glory tonight.

So the RF now 'allegedly' have elements of sexual misconduct (putting it lightly), racism, bullying, work shyness and lack of empathy to mental health while still being a shining example to the people of Britain and the Commonwealth.

Im not Team Harry and Megan and I'm not Team Royal. Some of my opinions of Megan and Harry remain the same but some have changed. I maintain that she knew what she was getting into and if not Harry was in a position to prepare her for that. The ideal resolution would have been for him to part company with 'the firm' before they wed avoiding the 'bonus' wedding to the tune of £30m. However, I also support them in departing the said 'firm'. While I maintain that it needed to be a hard exit they have a right to respond to some of the press speculation that has been made about them now they are free to do so.

The allegations made are pretty shocking and paint the picture of the RF that won't surprise many. Im not sure how anyone can argue of a benefit in having a RF anymore. Its just scandal, sleaze and archaic, outdated nonsense. Hereditary power and privilege certainly comes with its price to those involved but is far flung from any idea of a modern democratic Britain. People in the US were so distraught by having 4 years of a Trump organisation that was overshadowed bv stories of sexual misconduct, racism etc but at least he was voted in by the people even if you don't like the electoral collage system or not. Does anyone actually consider what Britain would be like if our head of state turned out to be a narcissist? One that was given that position through biology and not democracy. Some would argue that the HOS in Britain holds no real power, I would deflect back and say that that is simply not the case and lobbying on parliament by members of the RF is an unconstitutional reality.

What this all leaves me with is at the most a continued desire for a total abolishment of the RF and the House of Lords and and the very least reform of how the RF operates. In the end people will just chose a side or not care at all. But those who are passionate about the RF for whatever reason now have Megan as the perfect person to vent against. She's far from perfect and neither are the RF.

This was their opportunity to get their truth out there so now we've heard it from the horses mouth, also it appears they were financially abandoned by the family and are living at a friends house currently which is far from ideal.

:cry::cry::cry:

Oh dear. What a shame. Nevermind

They decided to step away from their duties, not do a stroke of work....and then whinge that the Royal family has financially abandoned them? Bloody right too.

If they choose a life of leisure and luxury why should that choice be sponsored by the Royal family or the taxpayer?

People are surprised there’s elements of racism within the Royal Family?

No.
There are elements of racism and racialism in every culture and country in the world. Nowhere is free from it. Wherever tribalism exists ( and it exists globally ) you will find racism and racialism. It is ingrained in every pore of society. As long as the human race exists, as long as social and economic differences exist, as long as envy, ignorance and greed are facets of the human character, racism and racialism will exist. I am as guilty of it as the next man and am honest enough to admit it.

Where have they whinged that they have been financially abandoned out of interest? OR expect to be funded by the royal family / taxpayer? I thought they were happy to get on with funding their own lifestyle in the US, hence this kind of media 'work' ?

One of Harrys gripes in the interview was that they had been financially abandoned when moving, such that they had to move into a friends house and the only money he had was the inheritance of his late mother.

Well, we'll see but I very much doubt it.
Harry will regret the complete abandonment of his extended family network, the patronages he has had to give up, particularly those dear to him and the involvement in future affairs within the RF ( Births, Deaths, Marriages, Intimate family gatherings etc ) He is in love at the moment, besotted no doubt and prepared to follow every whim of his new wife. We all know that the ' honeymoon ' period doesn't last forever. There are points when all marriages need a bit of support and guidance, particularly from family and Harry may discover that those he is prepared to leave behind are those best placed to help him.

That does seem particularly harsh.

One trick I have generally found to work when trying to manage the cash flow is to get a job. I'll email Harry and suggest it.

They made very clear they wanted financial independence. Not sure why it's an issue now

Maybe. I think it was clear from the interview that he already regrets his disconnection with the family network. Both of them said that this was never their intention. The way they saw it was they needed to change the situation they were in for her mental health because they were not getting the help they needed.

Sounds like a fairly extreme measure that they have taken and perhaps there were other options available to them but from the interview they just gave they certainly felt like this was their only option.

For me it is a shame to see a family pulled apart like this but perhaps a positive to come out of this may be that the family get some control back of their affairs instead of being dictated to by this shadowy 'firm' 'institution' or (can't remember the other word they kept using).

Like I say I have never been much of a fan of the royal family as a family nor as an institution but watching that raised some questions about how they go about stuff.

Really what about the money he gets from the Duchy what about her money? It must be hard living on a bank balance of an estimated 20million, my heart bleeds. That's without selling the Sussex name

The program which aired in the States immediately before this, another CBS show called 60 minutes, had a segment on a homeless woman working 3 jobs and living in a tent. Which kind of puts things in perspective

I'm sure he'll be able to get good support and help from his father-in-law...................
