Trick or treat may be imported (I don't know) but Halloween is not.

Totally agree, halloween was a nothing event back in the 1960s and 1970s, maybe bob for apples and that's it. It seemed to take off in the 1980s. I blame Thatcher.

I know a lot of Americans think we don't do Halloween 'properly', but then they don't do Bonfire Night 'properly' - they have it in the middle of summer!

Funnily enough Halloween is not the only thing they think we're missing out on. Quite a number are shocked that we don't do Thanksgiving which in some Americans' eyes is a bigger deal than Christmas. Thanksgiving I can live with, Halloween I hate. Thankfully I live too far out of town to be bothered by Chavy offspring but I would happily hose them down if I did.

its all americanised, we r slowing getting the crap from over there to over here, schools are now doing proms etc, we never had that when we were at school, just a good old disco, unfortulty i have4 children aging from 2 - 9 and have had them wanting to go out trick or treating, i am TOTALLY AGAINST IT.
