Yes it might be junk.
Yes it can easily and comfortably be sneered at.
But there are certain endearing tracks from that era that just take you back to a happier time, when life was more simple, and music just defined and shaped your happiness. Anyone in their 30's right now will know what I'm talking about.
And I would like to start this banjoree with the following, from Nik Kershaw.

Just.
Great.

Not at all Juan.
I was just firing the opening gambit, to which you have added two CRACKERS.
I'm just looking forward to coming back to this thread tomorrow and seeing more classics. Like this.

Frankly, all you can do is sit back, let it wash over you, and applaud.

All well and good boys but lets have some REAL lyrics.........I know the Moz divides, and his recent ramblings about English identity are fairly tedious but at the top of his game he could put voice to emotions in a way that few others could even dream of.....

Park the car at the side of the road
You should know
Time's tide will smother you
And I will too
When you laugh about people who feel so
Very lonely
Their only desire is to die
Well, I'm afraid
It doesn't make me smile
I wish I could laugh

But that joke isn't funny anymore
It's too close to home
And it's too near the bone
It's too close to home
And it's too near the bone
More than you'll ever know ...

Kick them when they fall down
Kick them when they fall down
You kick them when they fall down
Kick them when they fall down
You kick them when they fall down
Kick them when they fall down
You kick them when they fall down
Kick them when they fall down

It was dark as I drove the point home
And on cold leather seats
Well, it suddenly struck me
I just might die with a smile on my
Face after all

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
And now it's happening in mine

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
And now it's happening in mine

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
And now it's happening in mine

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
And now it's happening in mine
Oh ...

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
Oh ...
And now it's happening in mine
Happening in mine
Happening in mine
Happening in mine
Happening in mine

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
Oh ...
And now, now, now it's happening in mine
(I've seen this happen)
Happening in mine
Oh... now, now

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
Oh ...
And now it's happening in mine
(Happen)
Happening in mine
Oh ...
Happening in mine
Happening in mine
Happening in mine

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
Oh ...
And now, now, now it's happening in mine
Happening in mine
Mine, mine
Happening in mine

The most appropriate number 1 of the 80's, this was what it was like under Thatcher.

now you know you're spreading misinformation there, thatcher spent her early years cleaning up the mess wilson, calaghan and " tax the rich until the pips squeak" healey had left behind , most of the eighties wasnt anything like this.
