And would be able to do what exactly that would 'ruin' the country? If you believe that renationalisation would be a disaster, that wouldn't happen. If you think that tax rises on high earners would be bad, it wouldn't happen or be toned down. Trident won't be scrapped, we'll keep our international commitments.

What they will be able to do is increase funding into NHS and education, make proper commitments for affordable housing and social care, reverse other austerity policies, and yes, negotiate a softer brexit and put it back to the people. Obviously that last one is a sticking point for some people. But he wouldn't be able to impose his so - called 'socialist Marxist manifesto' on us.

Not least because the likes of Kyle, and there are many similar in the Labour Party, wouldn't let him, nor would the libdems, nor would the NI parties. Indeed there is more likely to be a Johnson led hung parliament than a Corbyn one. Johnson may not get support for his brexit deal from the DUP or any rebels that get elected like Grieve or Gauke, but those people are going to vote with the Conservatives on everything else.

Noticed you haven't mentioned the SNP the largest and most likely political grouping that a Labour minority government would need to do a deal with if they wanted to govern.

SNP red lines for helping sustain a UK minority government? ... Indy ref 2 and ditching Trident. I'm also pretty sure the SNP would support a Corbyn government wacking up English taxes and borrowing as long as they were given a chunk of it.

https://www.heraldscotland.com/news...raws-red-line-trident-snp-set-demands-labour/

A hung parliament almost certainly means, weeks possibly months of political paralysis as Labour and the SNP and others haggle over the price for putting Corbyn in No 10 followed by a third attempt to negotiate a Brexit withdrawal deal by people who wouldn't even campaign for it .... followed by a 2nd EU referendum with Remain or might as well remain as the only options causing even more division and anger .... followed by another Scottish independence referendum = even more division/possible break up of the UK.

Or we can have a Tory majority government and finally honour the 2016 referendum result, no referendums and no minor parties (DUP/SNP) extorting bungs.

I get that there's no point in giving up, if it gets one 20-year-old to go vote who wouldn't have done so etc etc, but this kind of thing just comes across as fairly disingenuous. Even a lot of the people organising campaigns are feeling pretty anxious and demoralised about Friday - I'm not sure using tenuous evidence to imply hope is helpful.

Oh I've no doubt boris will win, but I will feel content that I didn't help him win.

What are the odds someone will win this election with the slightest possible numbers and the Brexit discussion will be ongoing for several more years..?

As PM's go, he's definitely substandard but I do luv democratic results being enacted and prefer governments that can govern without the need to pander to political parties who want to break up the UK.

Balls, you love the guy. And sure, he's doing the break up of the United Kingdom all by himself without any pandering. Border down the Irish Sea anyone?

Well this is an interesting one. Scotland vote overwhelmingly for remain on a vote to leave the EU 2 years after their independence vote, strengthening their voters to vote for the SNP by huge majorities thereafter in both Westminster and Holyrood, isn't a democratic mandate for them to hold another independence vote at some point in the future given leaving the EU is a fundamental change to the UK as a whole, and therefore a determining factor in allowing that true democratic principle of 'self determination'. Or do you only honour democratic results when it suits you?

.... seemingly Johnson didn't want it to be 'enacted' and there was insufficient agreement about what kind of 'enactment' would meet with majority approval anyway - so whatever 'Leave' happens will make a large majority dissatisfied. Not democracy as I understand it.

What about the reference to a "six form common room manifesto". I guess you meant it was a post that tallied somewhat with your own views.

But he was trying to steer a neutral line between all the main protagonists, mentioning the pros and cons, which is quite rare on this thread, so, no, it was not the case at all.

The Scottish people voted on the basis it was once in a lifetime/generation decision ,no caveats .. as we did in the 2016 referendum.

Moving the goalposts/Keep asking the question until you get the answer you want is very undemocratic and very EU.

We held a referendum on joining Europe in 1975 and voted 67% to join it. Please explain under your above logic why we held another referendum?

For a (largely) highly intelligent group of people, this kinda thing is so misguided. Like pouring bleach down your throat to cure a tongue ulcer.

The country is anti-Semitic. The hard-right Tories and the people they associate with and enable hate everyone who blocks their way to greater wealth. This kind of campaigning is rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic and steering it towards a whole fleet of icebergs.

We held a referendum to stay in the EC not to join. 40 odd years between referendums seem to better fit the definition of 'once in a lifetime/generation' than 4 or 5 years. Happy for another one in 2060!
