That graph you posted is bullshit as well, some fake photoshopped BS by Guido Fawkes, not actually published by the IFS. Lies like the rest of the Tories. What a joke.

I've noticed the fisherman of Hastings are up for Brexit, maybe you could pop down and persuade them otherwise, maybe join them for a beer and sing a few shanty's

I see from looking at GB's response you've randomly replied to me about something else you don't know anything about - They're more than well up for Brexit, but they've also known for a while now they're going to get sold down the river and not get any of the fantasies they were promised in 2016. They're also a rare breed in the pub in Hastings Old Town these days - it's DFL country now - the days of me being a regular in a pub where the barmaid was going out with a fisherman are gone.

What is the obsession with fishing?
Less than 15,000 jobs, 0.02 % of the population are involved with commercial fishing, and it gets huge amounts of press attention.

I can’t fathom it , myself.

It's a smaller part of the UK's GDP than Harrods.

I think it's the nostalgic, romantic, call of the sea and the 'going back to how things used to be' element and easily blaming it all on foreigners. Things like the legacy of the Cod Wars (which you know a thing or two about) the Scottish fishing family cartels, Whitehall administering the quotas, sustainability of stocks, free access to markets in Europe etc, all gets overlooked.

The metric I showed was what the actual rate of corporation tax. Taking a comparison of proposed percentage increases but not presenting it as such is disingenuous at best, deceitful at worse. Quite why the IFS choose to highlight only what the rate rise percentage is, not a comparison of the actual tax rates - as a logical thinking person yourself, you have to ask why. Surely the actual comparison of rates is essential?

Really Sherlock?

You can read the Guardian report on the link, yes?

You were talking about antisemitism.

May I ask how Milliband exercising his living right to eat a bacon sandwich constitutes as such?

You're deliberately misleading posters that her support for Milliband wavered because he was being antisemitic.

Oh would you look at that, I only got to ctrl+f "anti" before it shows Zero results for mentions of the word.

Similar figures to the British porn industry. Never see the "we must leave so fisherman can catch what they like" arguments balanced out with "we must remain so the porn industry can hire eastern European girls under FoM rules".

We sell more electronic games abroad than fish.

This is a good article on opendemocracy about our fishing industry.

Unearthed’s investigation found that in England around half of fishing quota is held by Dutch, Icelandic and Spanish companies.
Like in many industries, there are fishers with serious concerns about how their ability to export may be impacted after Brexit. According to government figures, in 2016 the UK exported £1.17 billion of seafood to the EU, and imported £1.04 billion from the EU.

Trade barriers are a concern for those relying on exports. A large percentage of the under 10 metre fleet is reliant upon export markets for shellfish, crab, lobster and similar seafood.

Considering they have already been privatised, Water, utilities & trains are quite obviously salable assets.#

i'll look forward to the re-privatisation then.

as far as lending for enterprise is concerned, we have banks for that and they lend based on risk. if we want a state bank to discount the risk and lend to poor, non-viable business plans, there will be a lot of defaults to be underwritten by the tax payer. unless the aim here is to establish "Centralisation of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly."

The £400Bn for the green transformation fund, quote frankly is needed.

Labour Manifesto page 13, its the paragraph before the quote you gave on the National Investment Bank.

i see, you mis-read or mis-understood the IFS graph. its not the rate rise, its the % of GDP, they are making the observation that countries dont raise so much as a proportion from corporation tax, the established economic theory being this tax becomes incident on worker and customers.

Hold on, it's possible I have misunderstood then...

So what they're saying is a corporation tax rate of 26% in the UK would raise 4.3% of GDP in revenue.

So if France and the UK have similar GDPs, how is France's corporation tax rate of 34.4% only raising 2.4% of GDP? Meanwhile Japan raises a huge figure of 4% in corporation tax given their GDP is 1/3rd bigger than the UK.

What were you saying about lies and bullshit? :p

IFS website was down this morning as you might have known given you posted the image from Guido Fawkes. As beorhthelm has pointed out, it is a metric I'm still not fully understanding. So apologies for jumping to conclusions on your post, I neither subscribe to the times, or could get onto the IFS. As you were.

hazard a guess France has fewer corporations paying tax, more GDP generated from state spending.
