When I’m out of the house I carry a little bottle of hand sanitiser so I don’t have to faff with queuing for the hand dryers (which are environmentally harmful) and more effective at killing off germs.

At home, we use bars of soap.

and if you read reports they are diabolically unhygienic.
i read a recent report that university tests show that over 70% of people do not wash their hands well enough, or long enough to remove all bacteria. The drying process is as equally important in removing bacteria. Paper towels are the most efficient, the air from driers heats to a temperature not high enough to kill bacteria, and germ particles from the user are blown as far as 6’ into the air behind the person using it.

So, you stand behind, or walk past a person who may just have partially washed their hands (many don’t even use soap, just a quick swill under a tap) there is a good chance you are breathing in the germs still residing on their hands when they’ve just wiped their arse! , nice.

Hospitals use hand sanitisers outside of every entrance and ward. Which reports have said they are unhygienic?
My other half went to Kenya for 10 days with the church, staying with Kenyans, not in hotels, and were told to use hand sanitisers because the water was so bad. One of the group took a small phial with her to analyse the water, as a consultant pathologist. It was teeming with nasties.

My annual update training as a healthcare worker continues to emphasise that HOT water and soap are essential, but that it is the TIME spent that is really important. Most people spend less that 15 seconds on "washing" their hands, but what we should be doing is mentally (or even audibly!) humming "Happy Birthday To You" all the way through TWICE to ensure that the correct time has been spent on this. Obviously it would take the North Stand even less than 15 seconds to get through two verses of "Happy Birthday To You" so please leave your matchday habits outside the washroom!
