The French outdoing Olympic frame protests

There is a very excellent Tibetan restaurant in Paris. So excellent, in fact, that there wasn't a table available when Roz and I tried to eat there.

My guess is that it is closed for lunch today.

whole thing is farcical and if the IOC had any balls they'd call it all off. seeing the torch surrounded by dozens of security personnell is hardly the image of olympic spirit. if thats seen as a slight to chinese well maybe they will start to sort thier shit out.

I applaud this as it speaks volumes on what people think of China and their clear abuse of human rights.

I hope the IOC now understand that they have given the Olympics to wrong country.

Great support by Mayor of Paris, putting up a protesting banner outside City Hall.

Since there's nowt as satisfactory as a nice conspiracy theory, the shambles that is this Olympic Torch tour could make a person wonder whether there's a Fifth Columnist at the IOC.

Only it's hard to see how anyone without a satisfactorily ulterior motive could think it was sensible to drag the flaming thing half-way around the world given the certainty of the reception it'll receive.

One potential flashpoint could come when the torch arrives in Tibet in a few months' time.

Oh dear Lord!

The IOC should have a second country prepared to host the Olympics, and hold that over China until they sort their behavior out in Tibet. That way the sport event that is supposed not to be associated with political affairs can make a stand for steering clear of the politics.

By holding the event in China, it is becoming a political stance in itself simply by location, and compliance by the athletes practically represents a nod of approval.

In this, the demonstrations are already becoming a success.
