Thats the point though isnt it?. Has there been alot done to combat racism in football? Arguably not.
An annual shirt and armband campaign? Really?
Lets be honest, society has changed (for the better). People now are more actively aware of discrimination, diversity and the like. It is everywhere we go, from jobs to schools. People nowadays are more accepting of people of all backgrounds whether that be skin colour or religion and so on. Go back 30 years , if you saw a woman walking down the street in full veil, it would probably have caught your attention, and have been the sort of thing that you would have mentioned to your mate down the pub in amazement.
Nowadays, you wouldnt bat an eye lid.
Todays society has brushed off onto football. Football hasnt brushed off onto society. Yes there are isolated incidents of racism in English grounds, but they are thankfully very few and far between. So has the "kick it out" camapign really done alot to stamp out racism in football? , I dont beleive so. I think that the camapaign has riden on the wave of the recent change in society's acceptance and integration of individuals of all races and monorities.

Why was nothing done about Rio's comment about Ashley Cole being a 'choc ice' which is an insult to a black man, I am afraid it is all too one sided at the moment with everybody trying to be seen to be politically correct.

Well there has been much criticism regarding the leniency of Terry's punishment, and he was fined much more than £45,000 and suspended for four matches. I think Rio Ferdinand's retweeting of the "choc-ice" comment was a far more disgusting act yet he's got off virtually scot-free.
Players must be looking around at their predominately black dressing room, full of young self assured millionaires and cheered and adored by 10,000's predominately white spectators and wondering how they can assure people that racism is still prevalent in the modern game. It wont be easy.
This whole Rio thing has only blown up because it is Rio Ferdinand. Which is why it is him that is fronting this because he has more exposure than the others. He is a cock at times and really should learn to keep his gob shut. That being said, Rio didn't retweet anything did he? I thought he replied to a message on twitter he was sent saying: 'I hear you fella! Choc ice is classic hahahahahahha!!'. How is this the same as Terry calling someone a 'f**king black c**t' to their face and thus warranting the same ban as Terry? Plus, it wasn't just Rio that has stood up to the KIO campaign and cited its failings. There were some 30 odd players that didn't wear the t-shirt this weekend.

just take a look at the post immediately above yours, i'd question whether dressing rooms are predominantly black, but in general the post above you exposes the lack of a need for those "pair of bellends" to even be thinking about doing more to eliminate racism from football, in fact describing them as a pair of bellends is the most accuerate part of the post.
So because there are black players in the modern game cheered on by white supporters there is a lack of a need to be doing more to eliminate racism from football?

If I was fined the equivilent - say, £1k - for merely replying to a Tweet I'd be pretty pissed off.

You seem to have difficulty understanding the point that I and other posters have made, racism isnt a serious problem in football anymore , certainly not enough to warrant fools like the ferdinand brother setting up a racially exclusive players association , certainly not enough of a problem to need "combating".
Firstly you might like to enlighten me to where and what racism exist in the English game and then tell me how you gonna 'do more' to eradicate it.
My fear remains that if these bodies are set up, all very nicely salaried they need to find racism for them to justify their existence.
There is no greater environment than football where some players, parents and even fans at times feel such a profound sense of injustice that they seek revenge at any cost.
The game from the Academys upwards could be blighted by spurious allegations of racism when non actually exists.
