The Falmer Flab Challenge

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
Better go to the gym in that case! Buying myself a pedometer to keep track of my movements and buying a bike to replace the car I borrow from my folks.

In London this weekend, but will try and find some scales somewhere!

Someone called Wendy 76 has just joined the Flab Challenge, is it a closet Dean Wilkins fan?

We now have 11 people signed up, six in the home team, and five in the away, it would be great if things were evened up before the first weigh in on Saturday morning.

Can I suggest we all weigh ourselves first thing in morning each week?

Like many on here no doubt, I am carrying a few extra pounds of baggage. Having had a discussion with Lush, we have both signed on at All Things Food and Diet - FatSecret, which is a site for recording both food and exercise, with a view to losing a stone (or two in my case).

With the first fixture just over seven weeks away, we thought it might be an idea to set up a weight loss challenge on the site for fellow tubbies.

As far as I can make out there is no catch on the site, certainly no fees. If you join, and sign up for the challenge, you will automatically be entered into either the home (Blue and White), or away (Green and Black) team, and then it is simply a case of recording as little (such as weekly weight) or as much (food, exercise, blog, recipes) as you wish. Being part of a group means that you are less likely to quit, which has always been my problem in the past.

You can also download an app for iPhone, Android and Blackberry so that you can record your food consumption and exercise. It can be quite revealing, I have found that about 40% of my calories come from snacking, which is an eye opener, and gives me an area to address.

The challenge officially starts on Saturday (which gives you two days to lard up beforehand), and may of course attract no interest and die on it's arse, however good luck to anyone who wants to look a bit trimmer for the summer.

Fella, good luck with your weight loss.

i have been using a website (& Iphone App) called myfitnesspal.

it is excellent. it has helped me lose 3 & a half stones since November (last year)

Austrian Gull is on board.

I have precisely 38 minutes to eat up all my last remaining biscuits and haribos before the challenge begins!
