It was very interesting but I don't buy this suicide business.

Perhaps the heat was so intense that the only option was to jump out in the vain hope of survival.

He would not have felt the impact, nor had time to reflect on any pain. The suffering must have been in the resignation to that fate.

Suicide it was not - as to stay in the flames would have amounted to the same 'suicide' by the very decision.

We are ALL hurtling towards death, and most do fear the moment. It's better not to know when it will happen, but it is just as assured.... no, actually more so, than the death of the falling man.

I didn't know Robert Eaton, but have to say that that documentary contained a lot of food for thought on the sheer desperate horror and mindless waste of human life, and certainly made me reflect.

RIP Robert.

The official line of " they did not jump but fell or where blown out is certainly because Christanity decrees that suicide is a sin, no matter what the circumstances it would seem.

I didn't see the programme, but is there not another more practical reason for that assessment? I'm pretty sure most life insurance policies will not pay out for suicide. Therefore, the alternative explanation provides some protection for the victims' families. Just a thought.

Most insurance companies pay out on suicide, as long as the policy has been running for longer than two years
