No, not THOSE ones, I'm talking about these ones:

What do others think of them?

Personally, despite their biggest album coming out 7 and a half years before I was even born, and despite them not having released an album of new material in my lifetime (although apparently that will change this year), I love them.

Songs like Take It Easy, Lyin' Eyes, Desperado, I Can't Tell You Why, Take It To The Limit and of course Hotel California are classics in my view, and their famous 'Eagles Harmonies' still sound (on their latest DVD at least) as good as ever.

Despite their 14 year 'vacation' (as they put it), they still attract sell-out crowds of all ages to their shows, and they had one of the biggest grossing tours in the world in 2005.

So, NSC, what do you make of them?

A bit shit doesn't do the band justice!!! I'd say they were complete and utter AOR shit. The Eagles are best summed up in the taxi scene in the Big Lebowski, it's hilairious, one of the highlights of the film.

For me they had a time and place - hot summers in the 70's - but don't sound so good these days.

I love 70's music (my avator is a bit of a giveaway,) but when it comes to american rock of that era, it would have to be something like Beefheart or JJ Cale or Little Feat. The Eagles just don't do it for me and never have!!!
