I never thought I would ever feel sorry for a drug dealer.
Hopefully the programme may have worked as a deterrent to any wannabes.
I must admit the injury’s that guy sustained were horrific I to felt sorry for him until I was reminded of that old saying “If you run with Wolves you’ll learn how to howl”
Am I correct in thinking at the end of the programme the gang only were tried on the first kidnap, the second one he was involved in either is still going to trial or he served out his own retribution. He could clearly handle himself, it took four of them to get him in the car and he was still standing after that brutal assault and said to the the copper "is it bad mate".... yeah pretty bad.
Manchester has always had gang problems when I lived in Rusholme at the time Benji Stanley, 14, was blasted with a shotgun as he queued for food at a takeaway.
You would see them every day, and they would generally be ok with you when you walked past them, or saw them in the bookies, they would stare you down. I guess we were potential customers, not that I ever knowingly bought drugs off them.
On Tuesday night on BBC2
True crime doc. from Manchester. Some seriously scary people in it. Even the coppers are scared of them.
Well worth a watch, definitely recommended.
Thanks for the tip Lawro, watched it this morning, really thought provoking and right in the heart of Manchester, reiterated but much of the content surrounding Maine Road, yes that Maine Road.
Two things that really stuck out, whilst Police Brutality has no place in a civilised society, it almost appears to have gone to the other extreme, with the Police clearly intimidated on camera by a suspect.
And the other thing, clearly planted in the documentary by Greater Manchester Police, was the fact that the ‘gofer’/the foot soldier was the one who ended up with the 19 year sentence, sending a clear message out to the youth of Manchester, do not work for these kind of people as it will ruin your life.
I think he got longer as only his prints were on the gun so the other two didn’t have a firearms charge.
Does anyone know if more episodes are planned, I really enjoyed the one to date.

Next episode is on Tuesday and looks like the whole series will be 5 episodes long.

LBC my point was he clearly was the weaker party of the gang but clearly took the major jail time, which is the message GMP wanted to send out to all the potential Footsoldiers.
On again tonight.
9 o’clock on BBC 2.
Why? She's a solicitor who represents drug gangs, I'm not sure their lawyer selection process includes a smirk detector.
It was eye opening yet not surprising how the further up the gang food chain you go, the lesser the punishment can be as their hands are much cleaner, so to speak.
Can't wait, might see my brother.
Is he a Copper, or a drug dealing low life thug?
Or both.
( it’s a joke!)
