I think that is utter BOLLOCKS.

Was talking about this in the pub last night and concluded that whoever thinks that is having delusions of granduer about the club again.

And I'm ALWAYS right.

I don't agree. The safe time to have said NO would have been last January, when he had an inspector's report recommending a NO decision.

He is looking for a safe time to say YES. And that will only come when he can be absolutely certain that his decision can't be challenged in the courts.

im coming round to Chapmans point of view - i dont think Prescott would really care that much if he had a few hecklers at the Brighton Conference. Im sure they'll be plenty from other causes anyway.

the odpm has just rejected two inspectors reports that have gone against falmer and people are still claiming that prescott is gonna say no! Jesus!

Listen to Lord Bracknell, believe me he knows what he's talking about.

And i reckon the report will be out by the end of the year.

I get the impression from the OPDM letter and statements that they are looking to get this all sorted out as quickly as possible. No more reports sitting on peoples desks for months or long running inquiries.

Prescott has basically said he will allow Falmer to go ahead unless it is proven there is a better site elsewhere in Brighton and Hove. The club have spent years saying this is the best site. The Council have said this is the best site. The people have voted in favour of a stadium development on this site. Why would we have gone down this route if we new all along there were a better site?

The whole process now depends on whom we get as the inspector. We need one who understands the simple facts and not allow the opponents to get away with just saying there are other places it could be built. The opponents must now be made to back-up their previous rambling statements with detailed evidence, facts and figures. The club and council will then be able to rip their arguments to pieces in front of the inspector. It should make great viewing from the public gallery!

Does anyone really believe we will get anywhere near the conference venue anyway. With the threat of terrorism/suicide bombers the Brighton Centre is going to have a hugh security cordon this year probably more than usual. A few hundred supporters may have made it into the red tops briefly but thats about it. A million people marched against the war but that didn't stop it, I don't think JP would be worried about us if he said No.

He doesn't want to say Yes before the party conference in case that sparks protests from the nimbys (media coverage even if only a few kick up a fuss), but he will say Yes well before the election (thousands more voters wanting a Yes than a No).

He is also avoiding a judicial review, so actually speeding up the process.

If he wanted to say No, he would have done it by now and pointed to the two inspectors' reports.

got to say that i don't think conference has got anything to do with it.

you're spot on re the fact that by avoiding the judicial review we'll actually be speeding up thie process
