Superb. Certainly the most VIOLENT Batman film, fairly gruesome in some places. Ledgers Joker absolutely makes that film though, amazing performance.

Had a right result with those Argus VIP tickets I won. Free Batman SOUVENIER packs on arrival, up to six free drinks at the Duke of Yorks cinema bar, seats in the balcony that turned out to be a two-seater SOFA to lope about on for the film. All that, and half the audience were dressed up as various Batman characters, so there was a fancy dress competition before it started (won by a rather slinky bird in a skin-tight CATWOMAN outfit  )

Top night.

...half the audience were dressed up as various characters...

So was it really one of the movie events of the year, or had you actually gone on the wrong evening and stumbled into "Gay Sound of Music Night" by accident?

Saw this yester-evening at the Odeon. It is a fantastic piece of dark comic book story telling and continually surprised me as to what was going to happen next. Some fantastic action pieces too - really liked how they introduced the bat pod (aka bat bike). If I have to nitpick then I'd say it did feel too long (my pee-sized bladder almost burst!) and the fact that it is a 12-A film meant that some of the more "implied" gruesome violence felt more like it was cut (which I don't think it was) than "implied".

Overall though, an extraordinary film with incredible performances from Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart and Christian Bale. Oh and Gary Oldman too!

Oooh there were ALLSORTS there, Truff.
You should've seen the bird serving behind the bar. Another slinky Catwoman outfit, exposing a cleavage you could comfortably park a Kawasaki in. And there was a BAND in the foyer playing the "der der der der der der der der der der der der der der der der BATMAN" music. A strange night, but a pleasant one (I'm half asleep now - it didn't start till 12.30, so I got home at gone 3am).
