Great book and a bit of a first for NSC - EVERYONE seems to be in agreement on how good it is.

The Damned United is the best novel on sport ever written, IMHO. Brilliant.
 






.....And I thought it was a jolly good book as well. Will they do a "Fever Pitch" with the film as I think it would be very difficult to put on the screen in the same form as the book.

At the risk of starting a war.. I found it a bit disapointing all in all. Lots of the main characters are found to be a little odd to say the least. The level of hatred between Clough and Taylor came as a shock. Bamber is shown up to be a flash harry business man whom Clough strings along while desperately trying to get re-instated at Derby. The man himself is portrayed as money mad and a drunk. It shattered a lot of my beliefs or illusions as it were. Also the language used was consistantly foul, all in all I felt quite let down .
