I, erm, declined Kylie Minogue's invitation to go for a drink. In my defence I didn't realise it was her until after she walked away. Still haunts me!

That’s quite cool . Just leave out the bit about you not recognising her though.

Wow! I found her very interesting and interested - totally at ease with herself and just a view of things slightly outside the normal that was magnetically compelling.

I'm sure she was. I have no insights about her - my ex was just dumbfounded that I didn't know who I'd be talking to.

In your defence, you did say you met Bjork in a sauna. Maybe you just didn't recognise her with her kit off? Maybe if she'd been dressed as a pink swan in a tutu or something, your ex may have had a valid point :moo:

That's true. She was in a gingham bikini - how was I meant to know who she was?

I watched a programme on Jimmy Carter a few months ago, struck me as very cool and is mates with plenty of rock stars too. I was genuinely surprised

The coolest people I’ve met are not famous or even bit part celebrities.
Not picking on one of the posts above but my definition of a cool person would be Bowie and definitely not Jasper Carrott  not that I’ve met either. Maybe Jasper is cool but not someone I would describe as cool when he was on tv.

Is this really a thread about famous people that you have met?

I saw Nick Cave coming out of Brighton station on an Albion matchday. There was a mass of blue and white striped shirts and then out he came wearing a green suit and red shirt and it was one of the coolest things I've seen.

No because my original post was about meeting Peter O’Toole, who was f****** cool 😂

I met Paul, Linda and James McCartney on Brighton Marina as a kid. My dad, whose name was John, was very surprised when Paul McCartney said "hello John, what are you doing here?" to him like they were friends. Turned out he mistook my dad for John Thaw, to whom Dad bore some resemblance at the time.

There was a charity show on at the Theatre Royal and following that, a post-show 'do' at the Grand Hotel. I found myself sitting in the company of Steve Harley and John Martyn - two very cool guys. After a couple of hours, Steve Harley retired and I was left with an increasingly pickled John Martyn. The hotel bar had shut, but John wanted another drink so they reopened the bar for us.
A while later, he asked me if there was anywhere to get a breakfast (yes, it really was that late/early) and I told him I knew just the place, and to wait for a little while. I left the hotel and picked up my 2 CV parked around the corner and pulled up outside The Grand. John levered his considerable frame into the passenger seat and I drove us to the Market Diner, where he treated us both to a fry-up while regaling me with tales of his life, loves and marriage.
Dropped him back at the hotel a couple of hours later, where the doorman came and opened the door for John and led him inside.
That guy was amazing and I still adore his music.

Probably wasn’t that cool when I met him but from childhood idolisation definitely Wes Boreland of Limp Bizkit. I was 33 and was still massively starstruck. 😂 He was nice enough to forgive my lameness. He was playing a show with a little side project of his at Highbury garage and was probably really spun out anyone turned up at all so I like to think he appreciated it.

I always loved his style in LB, meshed the make-up and masks or prosthetics perfectly with his bone structure to great effect imho. LB feature in episode 2 of Woodstock 99, currently on Netflix.

I saw it the other day. Was a huge fan of them growing up! That Woodstock '99 is a mess. Amazing archive footage. I just can't believe anyone thought it was a good idea. Also incredible to see Fatboy Slim there. Such a strange era.

Not sure about Des. Met him in the directors box at the Amex once and out of all the directors / people in the box connected to the Albion that day he was bit of a miserable old thing. Probably earned it as his age but still…

Met Beckham at an England training camp when he was playing so at the time very cool. Shared a first class cabin with Victoria Silverstedt from Zurich to New York. Bought 3 Louis vitton bags onboard with her, only drank bottled water and didn’t eat a thing the whole flight. Was only me, my brother & her in the cabin.

Met Norman Cook a few times (Amnesia nightclub car park after he’d finished, Warehouse Project Manchester - and on a table next to him at Little Fish Market) and each time happy to chat. Tried to get a lift back from Manchester with him so I didn’t miss a game we had the next day but no joy !

Probably a few more can’t remember off the top of my head
