A little stat for you. 1992-1993 we played Burnley on Boxing Day (I remember thinking how ridiculous it was to make them travel that far; it was in the days when the police decided the fixtures). It was the old Division Two, as Division Three was by then known. They brought 1200 down. Today they only brought 900, after having been in the Championship for years and that season in the Premiership. Very poor support, and I don't think a week before Christmas and the recession is any excuse. The economy was hardly thriving in 1992.

Pleased that no-one applauded the away attendance - infact I didn't even hear how many they'd taken due to people booing before it had been read out. That's how it should be!

Burnley is a tiny place and with other clubs close by, Burnley have great support given their catchment area.

Just been on their forum at least 3 fans who are posting come from Sussex or Brighton area, they thought the stadium was crap, and apart from cms and noone we had no quality utter load

Lucky we're talking about their away support who sat there doing nothing for 80mins then.

Considering their lowely position in the league,distance travelled plus last weekend before Christmas,900 plus was a decent total,when the figures were announced our supporters booed them,poor response they had nothing to do with the sendings off.

We normally have a very vocal away support.

To be fair, we were only given/ our club only took 850 tickets. (found out we had 983 though?)
And the majority of the fans that went today, were London based clarets, who are renouned for being very quiet.

A couple of seasons ago, I went to Reading and we had over 1'000 there, but the majority were London clarets.. and trying to get any songs going was a lost cause with some of them.
A week later we played Ipswich away, only took around 600 fans, majority from Burnley and it was non stop singing for 90 minutes.. 600 not going to sound that loud, but it was non stop singing for 90 minutes.

Plus alot of the older season ticket would have snapped up the tickets, with their loyality points before they went on general sale. So that's why most would have been 'pensioners' Also it is a week before xmas, and alot of people are skint/had work parts etc.

I know it sounds like I am making excuses, but our away support is honestly usualy very vocal, not always the biggest following compared to most teams, but usually very vocal.

I hope we get Brighton in the FA Cup and our club don't screw us over with the tickets again, then you can see our true away support.

We were lucky today, had you not had 9 men we would not have hung on. Hardly a win to shout about But when the dust settles, it is 3 points.

. (I remember reading in the stats before the game, that Brighton had the most yellow cards in the League.. but I was not expecting that inside the first 12 minutes)

I think there was an element of embarrassment in their support. Frankly 1-0 up against nine men you shouldn't be holding on at the end and clearing balls off your goaline! Some of their passing and crossing was completely abject!!

All fair comment. Can't blame Burnley for some awful refereeing.

To the best of my knowledge away teams are offered the whole south stand and we only take half back if the away team are only going to sell half the tickets or less.

Lat season, we played Huddersfield away for our last away game in December. 854 Albion fans made the trip, less than the number of Burnley fans who came yesterday.

Overall, I think their support was pretty good. I couldn't hear them much but to be fair, we were making more noise than since the early games at the Amex so it was difficult to hear anything from my WSL seat.

But their support WAS shit, I think they tried to sing once. Once in 90 minutes of play is woeful by anyone's standards, why bother going if you're gonna sit there in silence?
