The Budget?

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
I thought this would have warranted a thread!

Basic rate of income tax from 22p to 20p. 10p bracket has gone! A pathetic attempt to con voters. I don't think many people will be better off.

Gas Guzzlers being hit.

Corporation tax up to 22% for Small Businesses and down to 28% of Large Businesses.

Tax breaks for 'Green' Homeowners.

Cigarettes up 11p etc.

I gave up being interested in the budget when I realised that whatever government is in power and whatever budget they introduce they cater for the extremely poor and the extremely rich while regular folk are left to pick up the tab for both.

That's not quite true on this one. The changes in the income tax rules means that people on middle incomes are benefited.

e.g. I'm on about 26k and I've worked out that i'll be about £130 better off a year than I am now.

Edit - The tipping point, on my reckoning, is about £20k. Below that and you will be worse off, above that you will be better off.

He's taken 2p off the standard rate but abolished the lower rate band altogether. People on low incomes will pay more tax and people on average and high incomes will pay a bit less.

A blatent finger up to those on minimum wage.

Yeah but it's about enginie size innit? Mine is a 2.5L so not a HUGE guzzler *shehopes*!

I'm a single male homeowner with mortgage and no kids. Basic rate tax band, drinks too much and smokes occasionally.

I get f'all. I never get anything, anywhere. No cheap f***ing rail deals, no tax credits, no cheap entry to the local leisure amenities. All I do is pay my taxes and listen to middle class wankers whinging about how unfair it is that they have to pay theri share as well.
