On the back of a light aircraft from Shoreham Airport. 🙈

I know who paid for it 😉

But does anyone remember which specific game it was?

And has anyone got a pic of it please?

Isn't the Chelsea game an evening kick-off? No one will see it ...

But seriously folks, I don't even remember the incident happening, let alone can tell you what game it was.

Looking at your joining date old boy, it was probably a little bit before your time

Just far enough away from LDC
It was november 85 in a 1:1 draw with Norwich. If I remember rightly the press had been given advance notice of it happening and it wasn't well received by those in the ground who had a soft spot for cattlin

Thank you.

That's where your mind plays tricks with you, I thought it was towards the end of the season, April time, and Mullery was sat in the ground.

So the timing of that makes things even more sinister, whilst I know who paid the pilot, the funding came from within the boardroom, so Cat effectively was working for people who clearly didn't want him there for a good 6 months, even getting to the last 8 of the FA Cup in the process.

Absolutely. Mullers was due to be at the game that day but decided against it. I suspect he too had been told it was happening and wanted none of it.

i.e. most of us. Chris Cattlin was a legend.
Still is. Sometimes have a chat with him on the seafront when our walks cross paths. Lovely, lovely feller and very knowledgeable about the game still.

Joining date of 2003? I've been watching the Albion since 1966! *Harrumph*

Although that probably explains why I don't remember, so much has happened that some things have slipped my mind - although I do remember it's 50 years ago this month that I first met you! (Worthing Connaught Theatre. I was in 'Cabaret' with your brother Robin).

He did write about Melias appearance in the North Stand though which may be what youre thinking of?
I've always wondered how he got in that day, I doubt he paid and surely Bamber would have sacked any steward who let him in free? :lolol:

All these years on the most gutted I have ever been about a manager moving on (getting sacked). Loved the way we played under Cattlin and he pulled no punches about what he expected from the players.
