Up against Cadamarteri today who infamously was one of the above. As a youngster he was one of the hotest properties in English football, he outshone Owen and Fowler in that Merseyside derby and was tipped to be a superstar, however it never happend.

Here are a few others I remember for not making it:

John Curtis ( Man Utd )
Micheal Bridges ( Leeds )
Dean Richards ( Bradford
Martin Phillips ( Originally Exeter)
Peter Ward perhaps ?

Ian Selley was hyped up majorly when he came through the Arsenal yoof.

In 1998 the Sun reckoned Ugo Ehiogu would captain England at the 2006 World Cup.

Not Wardy, he had a few years with us & was with Forest in the top div except Clough wouldn't pick him. Maybe didn't go as far as we thought he might but he's recognised as a legend, that's not failure. Will you say the same about Zamora?

As much as a rate him still, Darren Huckerby's career didn't quite live up to the expectations set during his time at Coventry

What was the name of that Arsenal player who was feted as the new George Best.

Mid-70s - had an italian(?) sounding name. Died in poverty in Bournemouth a few years ago, as I recall.

was it Peter Marinello?
