Tim Ley is good and the one I always used to use, next to St Johns park.
The emperor is good to eat in, not sure about take-aways.
There's a new one open on mill road in what used to be China Garden, I've heard that's good but not been there yet.

There's the one in the car park behind the cinema which used to be the Bingo Hall... can't remember what it's called though. They also do a nice 'all-you-can-eat' buffet on a Sunday.

Definitely recommend Tim Lei though.. mainly because it's one of those chinese/fish & chip shops, so I can get Pukka pie, egg fried rice and sweet & sour pork balls. DELISH. Just found a similar style place near my new place in Luton. I was very excited.

Mei Xin Hin's opposite the Top House on up from the main station is my favourite.

Had one from the new one on Station Road last week, think it's called Lucky or something like that. Wasn't impressed at all, even the prawn crackers were a bit tasteless. Never liked Chifoo either.

So Mei Xin Hin's, Dragon & Peacock or the Wok Inn (formerly China Garden) for me.

Having just moved to Burgess Hill, I wondered if anyone had a favourite or could recommend one

Whereabouts in town have you moved to?

i'd go another 3 miles out and hit the Canton Chef in haywards heath, best by miles :)

Ridiculously expensive though. Canton Kitchen is owned by the same people and better for takeaways, it's less pricey for some reason.

If we're getting on to Haywards Heath takeaways I've started using the new one on Boltro Road called Lily Palace. It looks like it's gonna be really crap and I only went there because Canton Kitchen was closed, but the food is amazing. Well worth a go if anyone in Haywards is reading this, it's much cheaper than the others as well.

Always found The Emporer to be the best takeaway (behind the cinema)

Tim Leys (lower church road) is also very good, and has improved a lot over the years (e.g. less greasy)

I haven't tried takeaway at others though. Wok Inn does good food in their restaurant so might be worth trying (they've also introduced some Vietnamese food recently as part of their menu)

Quantity: Tim Ley on lower church road
Quality: Chifoo on London Road.

However the Dragon and Peacock deliver which is good.

Exactly what he says!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But Chifoo deliver too.

Little lesson with Tim Ley

if you want prawn crackers, see if your order is £10 or more without them, if so you get given prawn crackers free as a matter of courtesy as long as you don’t ask for them.
If you order them you pay for them whether you spend £10 plus or not.

Silver Dragon for me but that's just because it is 150yrd from my front door!!!

Outside of Burgess Hill, not far. Castle Inn at Hickstead. I know they do home delivery as well, but not sure how far they go.

If they didn't deliver to Burgess Hill then Alex Epstein from the Apprentice must be their marketing manager!!!!
